Have to recycle ignition switch 8-10 times while trying to start in between each cycle. When it finally starts, it runs fine. Has been coming on slowly over the last couple months. Any ideas what might be wrong?? Thanks.

I've got the same problum , one of the things I did to pin it down was when it happened I'ld leave the ing. on and go under the hood and pull the linkage on the fuel shutoff up and if it stays in the up position then I'ld lean towards the relay, all this if you'er talking about the eng. turning over and not starting vs. not turning over. more info is a big help in getting help here , go to the user control and fill in the truck info .

The return line may be seeping air into the system.

You wont necessarily see a fuel leak if it's leaking.

It it hasnt been done, do it.

start with the simple and obvious, how is the idle? if my goes to low it becomes very hard to start as well. try just putting a little pressure on the fuel pedal when you start.

Turns over fine; just won't start. But when it does start, it runs fine. Thanks for the hint, also for the advice about the user control.

I had the same problem for a while. Turned out to be the relay. As others said, turn on the ignition (don't crank it) pull up the solenoid until it holds, then start. If it starts immediately, it's a relay or solenoid prob. In my case, it was a weak relay, one of the contacts was completely burned off.

Hard start

My 94 went through that and it was the rubber boot over the fuel shutoff solanoid had turned into a sticky mess after 300 K miles and was stuck to the shaft and in the spring.

Take it off and clean it real good and make a new boot out of a bicycle tube, it works fine :)

Hard start

 Its right on the side of the AFC on the back of your injector pump,a round cylinder about 2 " in diameter.

Turn your key on and put your hand under it and pull the lever up , it should stay there and your truck will start :p :D :D

Did you get it fixed ?? If it's not the Fuel shutoff solenoid, (I'm still on my original one)you might look at replacing the lift pump. I've been through (two) so far, it just seems to decay overtime and eventually it wont start. Good Luck!

Line leakage

I would definetly be looking for a leaking supply line or return line. Air enters supply line,or fuel drains back to tank. Lines usually corrode around the tank and from tank to frame rail. Sometimes the fittings right at the tank rust out. Look at all these locations first and repair if rusted. Problem is definetly fuel supply related. Good luck. .
