Ditto to getting off one's butt! I've been reading this site for several months and finaly got around to sending my $35.
I've gotten a lot of help already. I'm a shade-tree wanabe mechanic. I don't go in too deep due to limited time available. I do my own service and most light repairs. I have a factory manual as well as a Haynes. I'll probably retire within the year and will have more time to do some of what I'd like to do now.
I'm new to the Cummins (bought it from a widow lady in January), but I'm not new to diesels. I drove a 1969 220D Mercedes from 1969 until 1977. I had a 1983 Chevy 6. 2L Heavy Half from 1986 until 1999. I pulled a 31' Airstream all over the west with it with little trouble (except for the lack of power). I'm looking forward to my first pull with the Cummins. Only thing I dread is backing the 34' Airstream into my RV stall beside my house with the 5 speed. It's been a long time since I've driven a manual transmission truck.
I'm going to include my signature if I can figure out how to do it-- well, I just tried to figure that out and can't find how to do it so will copy it in the body of this message. Sorry about that.
