Mike @ Auto Wurks race truck broke a new track record last weekend at the Cummins Nationals in Englishtown N. J. #ad
#ad
#ad

12. 3 seconds @ 109 mph #ad
running #2 diesel, 370 inj. , HX40 turbo, BD trans & T. C. and a BD prepped race pump, 370 cam & pistons, 020" thicker head gasket, ported head & exhaust manifold. The truck is 6200lbs, I'll let you math experts figure out the HP. He's sending me a video of the race, I'll see if I can find a computer whiz to post it #ad
Wish I could have been there, was still in England, just got back home. Who all made it & does anyone have a video of the race?

Sure sounds great, but did it smoke? #ad
Seriously, congratulations to AutoWurks and BD, nice to know that the old 12-valver still has life left in it. Would there be any benefits with the 370 camshaft for us average rammers?

Holy Smoke! #ad
The bar has been raised for the Power Chokes and Dura Craps! Can that beast be geared for a top speed run on the salt?

That's all???? I can do that on the 36" Swampers, yea right! That's great, nice to hear us 12vers are still rocking!

If I crunched the numbers correctly... based on 1/4 mile ET of 12. 3 and a weight of 6200lbs, thats a very impressive 658. 5 HP #ad

Did'nt see the trap speed the first time around, at 6200lbs and 109 MPH that calc's out to 620. 7 HP #ad

Rebel,

probably in the 110-115 MPH range. It should have had a strong top end charge with that kind of HP.

Woops, Piers did post the trap speed, 109 mph

prolog software put it at 621
racepro software was 645 w/3%drivetrain loss
turbocalc software was 645
wolverine camshaft software was 634

oh boy, lets add another 140or so more hp with drugs, hehe, the maybe Eric I'll see if low 12's arent possible. Piers you da man.

Piers,
You should have been there to see it happen. Jannetty keeps on talking about his 98 3500. Mike's truck is street legal, registered, DMV inspected and was the fastest diesel-powered vehicle at the show hands down. Jannetty's was the slowest in the class of three trucks that it ran in. I refused to run slicks on my truck to prove my point that I run mine just as it is on the street and all the new power just caused more wheelspin when mixed in with aggressive shifting of the 5 speed. I did have a wicked MPH of 97, which transmits to 527 hp at the rear wheels when you do the calculations, with the weight of 7400 lbs as weighed at a truck scale.

Chris

------------------
520 Rear Wheel H. P. and 800+ ft/lbs Torque = 15. 5 sec @ 97 mph with the rear wheels spinning in 5th gear going through the traps in the quarter mile. No slicks here, pal, no fancy auto transmission, just the truck in full street trim, 7400 lbs. of Auto Wurks Diesel/BD Performance raging, fire-breathing DIESEL POWER

Piers,

Email me your email address and I'll scan in the pictures I have of the race and send 'em to ya!

Dieselb59,How do you manageto shift the nv4500 fast enough to get those et's,hell I can't whats you secret please share with me?Do you start in third at what rpm do you dump the clutch or what,I'm jealous as hell did you change the cam on your truck also?Amazing numbers from Mike's and yours almost worth a drive to Georgia is it?

Ramman,
I start out in 2nd, and side-step the clutch at about 2000 rpm. Three shifts later I'm at the lights and when the tires stick, the G-force is amazing and the truck pulls hard right up until 3500 rpm. I don't really think about the shifting, but when I see my runs on video, you could see I slamming those gears HARD.
