I was just wondering if anybody has had experince with the non wastgated 16cm turbine housing on stock turbo and if it is worth it I like the price. If it's not wastgated what do you do with the boost lines that are on the stock 12cm housing and can you put a boost gauge on the same way as stock?

What do you use your truck for? Are you towing with it? If not the 16cm3 is great ... ... if you are ... you will miss the spool up of the 12cm3 ... I put a 16 on mine ... . hated towing with it . . put the 12 back on. Still make plenty of power . . the 12 will flow alot of fuel.

As for the boost line ... remove it and plug the end on the AFC.

Life is good

I tow pretty regularly so that is good to know usually a 4 horse trailer but now and then a 32' flatbed full of hay how much will the 16cm lower EGTs

16cm2 Housing

I LOVE IT!! EGT's are lower than with the stock housing. I can still get up up there pretty high if I am not payin attention. But I always:rolleyes: pay attention;) . Spool up is slightly slower, SLIGHTLY. Took Joe D's advice. Thanks Joe.

With your fueling and 5sp transmission it will work great. The autos sometime have problems with spoolup with the 16cm. You may have to adjust the afc a little to get it just right.

I just installed my PDR HX35/14 turbo. Piers said I would not like the low end with the 16 for MY application. Heavy truck (8200lbs w/unloaded bed), tight converter, hills and always towing. He recommended the 14. It has same low end as my stock turbo did, but with much faster spool up and a much stronger mid range and top end. I like it. :D. With a stick the 16 would probably be good. My EGTs dropped about 150 degrees with the PDR. I love it. :D :D

Go for it.

BJ, it looks like our trucks are set up much the same. The 16cm2 lowered my EGTs a noticable amount. In the 5 months or so it's been on. there have only been a couple of times I've really noticed the lower spool-up speed. One was leaving a parking lot onto a major highway with a pretty good incline hauling the backhoe. For about 2 sec. I was wishing for a 14cm housing.

If you've got 4. 10s, and take a minute to adjust the AFC, you'll love it, even taking off with a load it's very OK, then going down the road, it's great.

Course Piers new PDRHX35/14 that Koa Man is running is the way to go, only a little more spare change.

If you lessen the tension on the AFC spring, by turning the adj. wheel toward the engine, you get fuel faster at low boost times, such as when taking off from a stop. The potential down side (for some at least), is more smoke, but more fuel faster = more boost sooner.

The adjustment wheel is located under a large plastic allen plug at the back of the pump, on top.

You can slide the cam plate a small amout toward the engine to help get more fuel as well, but since your truck has to work at times, just gotta watch the EGT gauge a little more if you do this.

You've got lots of tuning, tweaking opportunties to set things up to best suit your needs. Just do a few searchs and get comfortable for a little reading.

I ran a 16 CM2 housing for a year and a half, with the 370 injectors and #11 plate forward, boost would start at 1350. The truck towed really well with this set up. My milage empty was slightly better(3/4 mpg) and towing alot better(1 1/2 mpg).

If there was a draw back it was the lack of waste gate. It was making too much boost (42-45 psi):--)
