Cummins 6bt in an S-10

All Those In Missouri Enjoyed Your State

My 1943 Dodge Carryall with a Cummins 4BTA, NV-4500 married to a NP-205 just carried me 3411 miles on a trip to drive the Trans Labrador Highway and Quebec RT 389. Both of these are wilderness roads, all dirt or gravel, some areas mine tailings and driving on boulder heads. The wilderness road part of the trip was 539 miles. The Rig performed flawless. COmplete pictures and trip report on my Image Event Site

Yes, total miles were 3411, with 539 on wilderness road. I bought 131. 64 gallons of Diesel and ran double dose of Power Service Diesel Kleen to raise the cetane number by 6. Figured on the entire trip I got 25. 9115 mpg. The most expensive diesel was at Relais Gabriel on Quebec RT 389 at $1. 17 CDN per Liter. I followed the suggestion of the engineer at Power Service on the double dose of Diesel Kleen. I am now doing that also in my 2003 CDT.

That explains why I did not see the orange beast in Iowa last month! You were planning on a real road trip! :eek: That looks like a bunch of fun. I wonder what kinda milage I could get with that engine in my wifes Durango? 25 sounds plenty fine.

Hi Michael;

Yes, I could only do one, Iowa or this trip. It was a no brainer decision. I missed seeing you , but there is always next year. Unless, I decide on another trip. These are actually more fun than a Rally. I have always wanted to do Yellowknife. Its susposed to be a awesome trip. Probably will do that with the Cummins M-37 now in construction.

M-37? Is that going to be the pivot frame? Excellent pictures. Are you interested in another Power Wagon project vehicle? I haven't seen it but a guy I know whas just telling me he had a WM-300 style power wagon for sale cheap, if you have any interest I'll find out more.

Hi Tim;

COnventional frame on the M-37. The swivel frame project was cancelled early last fall. I have enough PW/M-37 Projects to last me for quite a while, but thanks for the heads up.

Great Job.....great trip!! Thanks for sharing !!

Just have to tell you how much I enjoyed your photos of your Carryall and your trip up to Labrador. You have done a wonderful job with that old truck. The Carryall should be able to go another 62 years without any problems!!

Enjoy your Dodges !!

VERY nice! Thanks for the pics! It's a great thing to see a resto, but one that hits it for 3500 or miles is worth the applause!

I was totally amazed when you posted the bucket-o'-rust to beauty PW project. Now there is more, and that meticulously executed. :cool: Well done!

Of course, I have a few questions and observations:

* Camera listed as a D70. My dream camera. How did you like it?. Recommend it?

* Whom are the "boys" you boarded.

* I'm still scratching my head over how a hydoelectric project works 1000' underground. Have to do a Google on that one.

* Have to say, as a typical "throw and go" kinda guy, that the meticulous planning and work you do is impressive... . no,... scary :-laf I got it! -- I'll bet you are really a rocket scientist! :cool:

* Dana backpack -- Great! I have five different flavors of the "originals" from when they were made in Bozeman, MT.

* Great to see there are really trees in that part of the world.

* The rock looks like granite. Canadian Shield same as the Beartooths -- superb.

* How come there were no bugs on the camera lens pictures. Are the bugs just a heinous rumor?

* TOOOO many clouds. Amazing to think that part of the world is even habitable. :rolleyes: :-laf

* Annnnd... . number 10 -- WHO is the babe. Now that looks like "sweetheart" to me. ;)

Ol' Traildog;

I bought the D-70 in November 2004. Also bought the 70-300 Lens.

I love it, it has never failed me. I shoot everything in the highest res.

Highly recomend it. I also bought a Addonics MFR (multi function recorder) www.addonics.com. This is a self contained flash card reader and CD Burner, all self contained and no larger than a external CD drive, 115 volt and Battery pack. After burning the CD, you can plug a cable into a Motel TV and verify all pictures burned checking either with thumbnails or full size. Then you can erase your flash cards. You can also play DVD's on it at a Motel. Wonderful Unit. Buy direct from Addonics and save a bunch, they are in high demand right now with elevated prices at stores.

My Boys are two German Shepherds. You can see them on my Image Event Site along with my other Power Wagon and my M-37 restoration which is receiving a Cummins 4BTA. Lots of other Power Wagon Stuff there. Your welcome to look at all albums.

Churchill Falls (Labrador) Hydro Project is 1000 feet underground. Due to the drop of the ground at the Churchill river, everything was tunnled out 1000 feet (in levels) below the river (before it went over the falls). 11 penstocks drilled on an angle drop the water to the turbines.

I too am a throw and go guy, wanting it finished yesterday. But on some projects, extensive planning must be done to assure a good time. Good Eyes on spotting the Dana Pack. I have 6 Dana's made when Dana was still in Bozeman and before the company was sold. No comparison to present day Dana's. And all my Tents are MOSS when they were made in Camden Maine USA.

No bugs on the camera lens, I lick them off ha ha ha ha. And its beautiful and super habitable up there, but you must like snow and cold. Their winters are much what we see in the Adirondack Mts of NY

#10, Why, Thats Sweetheart in the Sweetheart, I told her one time, you should sell trucks. Just smile and You could sell Ford Diesels to Dodge CTD owners.

I am seriously considering driving Sweetheart ( Carryall) from the Adirondack Mts of NY to Yellowknife, NWT and on to see a friend at Delta Junction, AK and return. WHy not, she drives as good as my 2003 Ram CTD. SO the Carryall would be comfortable to drive on long trips, I installed Ford Explorer Bucket Seats. They are better on my back that my 2003 Laramie H Package seats, Ok Lynch me ha ha

WOW what a good trip! This should be published in the TDR- like they do for other trips- the ALCAN road trip comes to mind. Robert, can you get this in? I would like to see it get printed.
