47RE In An Old Truck??

I have been a lurker on the TDR for over a year. Last week I bought a New 2003 HO/6 speed and figured its long past time to subscribe.

My current 2 year project is total restoration/reconstruction of a 1943 Dodge Carryall. The Carryall was destined for the dump, from the front A Posts to the Rear Tail Gate welds, everything was rusted away. You could rack the body side to side with 2 fingers. Over Last winter, I built all new inner and outter body panels by hand. Everything had to be fabricated. The rear Tail gate type doors were to far gone to do anything with. I bought 1947 Dodge Panel Doors and modified them to fit. The Body was then painted BC/CC Harley Davidson Orange and Satin Black.

I bought a 1999 Cummins Recon 4BTA, and mated it to a 1999 Dodge NV-4500 and a 1993 Dodge NP-205 T case. Differentials were changed to 4. 89's, Saginaw Power Steering and 4 wheel Disk brakes were added. A Braden MU-2 Winch will be mounted on the front, either drive shaft powered or hydraulic power. As of today, the Carryall is all wired and tested on a current limited power supply. Run brake lines and complete the interior.

Its scheduled to roll out in the spring and go to the National Power Wagon Rally in Fairfield, Iowa in June.

If anyone knows where I can obtain the 1999 Dodge Hydraulic

line/hose (Clutch Slave Cylinder to Clutch master cylinder, please email me. Dodge will only sell the complete assembly slave/master/hose Ha!

You can find full pictures of the work on my web site at

Happy New Year

Nice rigs!

Those are some nice looking rigs you own!

Have you seen the February 04 issue of Fourwheeler mag? - there's a feature in there of a guy from Texas that mounted a 42 Dodge like yours on a 98 Dodge CTD chassis.

What kind of tires are on your Bumblebee? They kind of look like NDT's with an all-terrain type tread on the lugs.

Do you visit fairfield every summer? I live about an hour north of there, but have been offered a job there, so will be transfering in the next 6 months!

Nice looking projects, I have always liked the old wagons, I am in the later model ones though. You know the ones will factory 440's and dana axels. ;)

You sure have a lot more patience then I do with all the body work you take on. Good luck

Tires & Fairfield Ia

The Tires are McCreary STA Super Lugs. They have a verry aggressive tread. Good in snow and mud, yet not a lot of sing at speed on dry roads. I will be picking up the FourWheeler Mag tommorrow, looks like a interesting article.

We go to Fairfield, Iowa each summer for the National Power Wagon Rally. Its put on by Vintage Power Wagons. We are there for a week, wonderful time, great people/friends and super food. Vintage Power Wagons has a web site that lists rally information and rally pictures: www.vintagepowerwagons.com

If you come down, look for the Harley Orange Carryall and stop for a chat

Hi You have done a truly amazing job of restoration on that Carryall I thoroughly enjoyed your pictures it still amazes me how you can start from almost nothing an actually create a beautiful vehicle Good Luck at the show in Iowa used to go there on Labor Day weekend. anyway congrats again for a job well done

Final Pictures in Spring

I dont update my web site with new pictures to often, I wait till major portions are complete. Probably no more site updates till its complete in spring. I will post where when its complete. BUt I sure am getting itchy to light the oil burner and go for a ride.

Excellent Job!

Love reading about these 4BT-powered 4x4 projects. I would like to put a 4BT in something someday.

(I'm thinking a '58 or '59 Chevy or GMC Fleetside with a NAPCO conversion... ;))

WM-300,

I am truely amazed at the great work you have put into that Powerwagon!! I wish I were that talented!

That is an awsome task you have taken, and it looks like it will turn out better than a new one!

Keep up the good work.

Really nice work! I picked up an OEM slave for my 97' at NAPA. I don't know about the line though.

the Volvo looks to have some serious potential as well!

what powerplant is in it ?

... any idea where I could find a set of those 280/85/16's ?

those would be cool on my W350 dually.

Very Impressive.

I have always been a Dodge nut and look forward to the day I can complete some of my projects. Cannot believe what some people can do with sheetmetal. Who knew a Volvo could be cool, lots of rock crawlers are using their portal axles, bulletproof.

The Volvo TGB-11 (C-303) is a real animal. Volvo rates it to climb a 80% grade and traverse side hills up to 40%. It has a crawl ratio of 56:1. Until a few days ago, I was planning a diesel conversion on it after finishing my Carryall. Looking at some features that would be lost when the Volvo drive train is removed, I have decided to keep it a 130hp twin carb gas'er (cut my tongue out ha ha ) My time will be spent stripping it, repainting and total interior. COme spring when my Carryall is done, plans may change 'again'. I believe a CUmmins 6AT would be a great engine in this truck.

I might have the hose you need. I just had my entire clutch replaced and I have all old parts . The hose should still be in good shape , replaced be cause of broken release bearing and master cyl. You can have the hose if you pay to ship.
