has anyone considered 12v or 4bt in boats?

F-150 w/6BT power on e-bay

made a homemade adapter for the transmission. Did not have to touch the firewall. Nothing else in the drivetrain changed other than the length of the driveline (slightly). Everything else is original. Not finished yet. Need to do the doors and the wind up the winch. Stole the color from a chrysler paint book. Cant remember what year I used. I will have to look up some of this stuff. The baby cummins (from a frito-lay step van) fits right in there no problem. Slight re-arch to the springs to get that giant oil pan from bottoming out. So it looks like it has a 1" lift.

Basically had everything gone through while it was out. Looked at the transmission, TC and really didnt have any major issues other than seals. Not bad for a truck used for over 50 years (up until the clutch went south about 5 years ago) on a ranch/farm setting. Awesome truck. Top speed of about 50 with the 5. 88 rear. Didnt tackle the power steering thing that some people do, I just get stronger arms. :)

Also nice to be an Arizona truck. After over 50 years in the sun. Not one spot of rust. That helped. Has air conditioning. The faster you drive, the more air comes in the front window. Not too keen on the split rims. Had a place in town mount those with a cage. I am chicken about pieces of metal flying at my face at high speed. Would love to change those out sometime. I do have the spare for the side of the bed. Forgot to put that on.

AzCattle, you've got your self a real gem there. That's when trucks were trucks and the stiffer the ride the more truck you had! Thanks for the photos.

Thanks for the comments. I agree they dont make trucks anywhere like that anymore. I do need to buy myself a good kidney belt however. 15 minute drive to hit pavement from our house and it is a bumpy one.

I'm surprised Paul hasn't come in on this thread, he's usually all over this board, and anything about a 4BTA into a Power Wagon. If you ever get serious about what it takes, he's the one to talk to. This subject comes up over on Dodge Power Wagon Forum #351 every once in a while, and he's all over it and has helped a lot of people. I've e-mailed him once on it, but I've held off on doing the swap because I have a very strong 265 in there & I'm short on room right now. For me, its only a matter of time though.

When you want to make the swap, send him a message, and he'll help you with some serious planning. He's a great guy.

Sari,

You couldn't be more correct. Paul in NY has put 3. 9's into a 1970 Dodge Powerwagon, a M37, A WW2 3/4 ton Dodge carryall, (with a PW nose), and most recently a 1960 W300. He is a true master, and a GREAT guy. He'll walk you through the entire process or explain and help you with any problems. He's WM300 here on TDR; Paul(inNY) on the DODGEPOWERWAGON.com site.

He's also documented his conversions/modifications on his own site:

Thanks Eddie & Sarj for the very kind words. I have been real busy the last few weeks and have neglected my daily visits on some of my regular forums. If there is any way I can help anyone, please send me a PM. We can set up a phone call and go indepth to answer your questions. Or simply basically talk about whats involved in the swap so you know what your getting into. I really prefer phone to long and involved emails or posts.
