Bill, take a note on what KRS says as it's true, the trannies in our trucks are a weak link without a doubt but I do believe that a guy can turn up the power a bit and be ok. This is why I promote the following setup, a #10 plate, 3K's and Timing. 3K's and timing are for the motor just because it needs timing and the RPM band of 3K's, now comes the #10 plate, I really like the way it comes in later in the power band, later in the power band means more pump speed on the transmission rather than power coming in sooner with a #8,6 or 5. To me this is the best setup than one can have, but don't let the plate number fool you, I have an 98' auto truck running around with this setup at 285/697 on a dynojet so there is room to grow and I haven't pulled any of my tricks out yet on it.
