Just finished installing the TST KDP repair kit with out a hitch.

I noticed the 5 bolts that mounted the Gear Housing to the block were still tight. The Dowel pin had not moved so I installed the tab and put it back together. RMcKinney 1995 Stock now but pending Govenor Springs and # 10 plate.

Cool. I have a 95 as well and the tab was a simple fix. Had to make my own tab back then as the repair kit was not around. I also used loctite on the bolts as well.

How long did it take you fellers to do the fix? My 97 needs it as well. Funny thing, Cummins West quoted me over $1000 for the KDP fix. Seems that it's their fault they outta fix it for just about free.

guldam, it is not hard to do at all. I fixed the KDP on a 93' 12v I put in my wifes suburban as well as the 12v in my 98'. You dont have to get the tab kit. You can stake it which is just as effective. It will probably take about 4-5hrs your first time. PM me if you have any questions. PS. Dont forget the case bolts.

Four to five hours is what I expected, but I'm so slow I might have to add another couple hours to that estimate.

I'm tackling one thing at a time on the truck and learning an enormous amount about it while I crawl around and hurt myself.

KDP is high on my list. I still have some more Luke's Links to install, gauges to install, and soon a transmission rebuild (someone else will have to do that. ).

Thanks for the info!

Guldam,

4 hrs is a good time.

The TST kit has step by step instructions and they worked very well.

I have a barring tool and I needed it to remove the balancer from the Crank.

T think I could do it in a couple of hours now.

When I did mine, I pulled the radiator to make more room and make the KDP repair easier. Also since the rad was pulled, I cleaned both it and the intercooler and replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses.

Guldam, Pulling the rad is optional. I left it in when I di my 98'. I left the upper rad hose in place and was able to work around it. Once you get the fan and shroud out of the way. take off the harmonic balancer the rest is a piece of cake. Take your time!!!Better to do it right than have to go back and do it twice.
