My 98-12 valve is showing an intermittent "Check Engine" light.
On an earlier post, it was suggested that I do a "key-on,key-off, 3 times and noting the "check-engine" light flashes or reading the digital Odometer, find the Diagnostic Code.
First Question-1: I can't make this work and a wondering if anyone else with the same engine can tell me what I am doing wrong or if it is just that '98-12 valve engines don't use the key on/off system?
Second Question: If the answer is that if the answer to #1 is "TOUGH LUCK--98-12 Valvers don't do it that way" and I need top buy a code reader,
does anyone have a suggestion for a code reader? JC Whitney lists an ACTRON OBD II and a EQUUS OBD II both for around $170. What advise will fit in this slot?
I truly appreciate the help. Thanks MUCH!!! Jim
