Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 1998 24 Valve no torque convertor lockup

I have just bought a 1998 24 valve, and the torque convertor will not lock up. I installed a "mystery switch" in order to try and lock it manually, and.. it still will not lock up. Any suggestions

that what we did with my boys truck turned out to be a bad TC caught it b4 it did any damage to the trans.
