1999 ECU / Wait To Start Light

i'm looking for the data port connectors on my 1998.5 24 valve smcstay was referring to that needed to be cleaned. anyone help? cant find the pics that were posted for the 1999.

Hey guys I have been reading this post and my truck is having the same exact issues my truck is a 1998.5 2wd auto with 265k on it... Just curious as where to start in trying to get my problem fixed I live in Nashville TN.. Any advice is greatly appreciated

I know it's years later, but I have a 99 dodge 2500 with 170k miles. It has had a long start issue for a couple months now but yesterday it left me stuck at the store. I feel like it's electrical problem. But just seeing if you fixed the problem.

I don't have a problem with the "wait to start" light, but I am having starting problems. The engine will start normally, (quickly) when it is "cold", after sitting overnight with temps in mid-upper 70's. I can drive it 2-3 miles, or further, stop, and turn engine off. When I attempt to restart, it may take two to three attempts for it to start. If it doesn't start with a long start time at first, I turn the key off and try the second and maybe third time. Sometimes it will start immediately on the second try. It is a '99, 2500 auto, with 330,000 miles. I have had the injector pump replaced at about 150k. The batteries and their connecting wires have all been replaced earlier this year. I bought the "military style" connectors from Jerry B's. The starter is about a year old.

Bill, Check for air in the primary side ( tank, lift pump,filter) to the VP-44! I had this hapen as a result of cool down (over night or parked for several hours at 10 F. The problem was that I had an air leak (into the system) at the top of the filter where I had my fuel pressure sending unit. Air would leak out if it was there and I found that with soap bubbles, however it would not leak fuel out, only air both in when cooling down and out as the system was filling badk up after getting started. some anerobic sealer and Teflon tape fised it and that was three years ago and no more porblems since.
