Ron,

Sorry, I didn't focus on the "or equivalent" part of your comment....I just get tired of some of the snarkiness on the thread. You treated it correctly and I didnt catch it. I appreciate the effort too.

Cheers, Ron

Seriously , it appears some on are getting overly excited here . All I was doing was make a little light of a die hard Amsoil guy. I suggest that those that responded to what they thought was snarkiness or whatever lighten up , and get over what you think I intended .

I usually stay pretty light on here; it wasn't so much today's post as it has been the culmination of the oil threads, transmission threads, and many others... it's just gotten old more than it is a case of lightening up. You may note I usually don't get tangled up in those interchanges, but agian, it has just gotten old. It might have been funny if there wasn't so much history of the back and forth between y'all.

So, I'm letting go of it, nuff said on my part.

Fun times on a 4500 & up!!! As of lately.....all of my 75W90 is now purchased in a 5 gallon bucket, and extracted with ye olde pail pump.

Greg,
You'd think the axle engineers would put a dang drain plug on the front diff cover. I think B&M makes a drain plug we can install ourselves.

Cheers, Ron

Oh well

One thing I miss about my 3500.....is actually being able to pull the covers and take a peek inside. On the 4500s and 5500s......one can only see inside the front, due to the rear axle design.

Even if they did have a drain plug....I'd still remove the cover. I like to do a quick inspection, squirt some light engine oil on all components to flush off debris, then squeegee (with my fingers) as best I can the bottom of the diff housing to remove all metal fines.

Did you know the big rear Dana on the 4500/5500 doesn't have a differential cover on it so no way to inspect it... I could live with a plug on the front. Nothing wrong with your approach though.

Yes I did. I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it if that's what my truck had, but if it has a removable cover, I'm going to use it....especially since I'm not doing it that often.
