20 years ago I would take Hi-way 97 out of Weed, up through K falls, drop off on Hi-way 58 into Eugene then back on I-5. That way saved a hours driving time and had less trucks and cars to deal with, also it was more scenic that the southern stretch of I-5. Not sure if it still holds true.

Alan,

it now depends on the tourist traffic. 97 can be a slow road on long weekends or when the retired folks are on the move. Not that they drive slow, just a lot of em some times. I go up 97 quite a bit on business and it is still a pretty drive but the 55MPH speed limit is something that needs to be raised a little! Going up to the Yakima area, I think 97 is the fastest way to go. My son now lives in Ellensburg, about 35 miles north of Yakima.

Yeah we wouldnt be able to race on 97 its mostly only two lanes. I grew up in Klamath Falls and have got quite a few speeding tickets on 97 because of the 55mph. It is a nice drive though.

Sorry, I'm still laughing about the 2 phrases " fooling around, me, never" and "the green weenie" both in the same post. Forgive me pastor.

SOUNDS GREAT I will be there. Did you decide if this is going to be a two day event that would make it even better. Better start making plans now.

How do we acquire info on places to stay? Do you want a PM or do you want us to shoot you an e-mail at Piers?

Sounds good to me Bob. I will show up if my poor tired old motor can pull all those long hills between here and Canada.

We don't need a show and shine we need a port and polish. Well at least I would like to do it. Nudge prod nudge prod.

Sign me up for the ugly truck award I am in the same boat. Especially since I now live right on the coast not only is the paint falling off its starting to rust.

Stomp

Whoa you better get a hat for it. It may sun burn. I don't have anything that bad yet, but if I don't get it taken care of someday soon I am sure the rust will eat her away.
