Intake Air Heater Question

I have a fuel leak on my '93 injection pump. It's @ a plug/fitting near the top in the rear of the pump, between 2 other banjo fittings. This plug has a rubber boot w/drip tube on it, as if it's common for leaking to occur hear. However, mine's leaking quite rapidly. Does anyone know the name of this plug/fitting and if it's service-able, or does anyone have a schematic that calls out the individual fittings, maybe even with part numbers?

Need e-mail address

Would you send your e-mail address to me? I have an e-mail with the VE schematic attachments that sdstriper sent to me back in June 2007. Would be happy to forward them to you. GregH

In short, that is not a drip tube. Far from it. Your pump will require service as it has worn/ruptured the O ring seal on the fuel control at the bottom of the air to fuel limiter. The pump will require disassembly to replace that seal. If this pump has quite a few miles on it, other seal failures are to be expected in the near future as thus the entire pump "should" be taken down and resealed with ALL new seals/O rings, springs replaced.

If you like to work/wrench on your truck then you can opt to replace one seal at a time as needed untill you decide you have had enough.

The pump, in most all cases will be fine i. e. it's service life will continue with out replaceing hard parts outside of seals (and O rings) springs and the trottle shaft w/bushing.

Don't let anyone sell you a reman pump. That would be like burning down a barn to clean out the manure. In the worst case, it is time for a seal-job.

There is a pretty good manual out there for the guy who likes to DIY. But even at that, you really need to take it slow as one wrong move can easily result in trashed pump internals and/or run-away engine. On-line manual is at the WV web site and is for a four cylinder VE, but it is almost exactly the same as our six.

WV web site? I'd like to get that manual as I have two trucks which will need seals sooner rather than later and I've been into other injection pumps before.

VW site. I'm pretty sure it's not in West Virginia. ;)

The seal that is leaking is the o-ring on the pin that rides on the fuel cone.

Sorry . V W site.

That is 105 pages. You can print this out and make your manual. Then go to diesel truck resource where you will locate a ten page "Exploded View" of the Injection pump with part numbers by Jim Lane (bosch VE distributor injection pump) This is helpful in too many ways to view how the items fit with one another.

I put this all together in plastic (clear) sleeves and placed inside a three ring binder.

That is my "manual". It functions very well for me. I'm sure I could sell it for a sweet sum, but it is very valuable to me at this time.

Where can I get a complete seal kit that will withstand ULSF? I probably need to rebuild my pumps before they fail and take out the engine with leaks into the crankcase. Be a good time to put in 3200rpm springs too. Current good source for those?
