I wouldn't want to treat my "regular" truck that way, but buying a serviceable one to use as purely a competition rig could be fun in an area where there are enough reasonably local events to justify the effort and expense...
It is sooo much fun! I have done some 1/4 mile drag racing, 300' sand drags and pulled a sled with an old 75 Ford 4x4. The problem is nothing like that is close enough.
I did go to Montana twice just to pull against my brother, but I got beat both times:{ I have since changed out and built the rear and front to better compete however I have not made it back yet.
Congrats, I just got my first pull under my belt. If your like me you've probably watched the vid about 100 times. I'm going again tomorrow, and am actually taking a note book with list of things I want to do different. My first time out I was about 500 light and was so nervous I forgot to air down the tires.
Anyway, fair warning, theres no room for anything else once you hook the first time and don't break anything. All I want to do is PULL!!!!!!!!!!!!11
made my first pull today, went 264. something, man i'm hooked too, was a blast. took a 4th place and my trucks mostly stock. there was a 6500 and 8500 class. i was at 6500 even all the other diesels had to pull 8500.
