PGreenleaf said:Has nothing to do with aftermarket pumps. The elbows are mounted on top of your fuel tank ,right from the factory. They set in a concave ,on tank top . if water fills the concave it submerges the elbow. letting water and crud right into tank. This elbow has a check valve in it . Put a 2 foot 1/4 line on it and you can blow right into your tank but you cant suck out . So fuel wont run out when you fill tank.
How does this all fit the thread here? You guys are killing your lift pumps with dirt getting into tank via elbow.
Old problem, several years old, Some older trucks had 2 exposed elbows. one front one rear of tank. I just bought a 06 3500. I looked at my tank and sure as heck there she was ,big as day on rear of tank, in the concave with the open end exposed. I put 2 foot of 1/4 in fuel line on elbow with inline fuel filter on end . I blowed right into my tank but couldn't suck out on it. This is on my new 06. Everybody is changing lift pumps but no one seams too concerned about these elbows getting crud in there tanks.
