FPettijohn has hit the nail on the head. At low rpm it just welds, at higher rpms  , holing the block/pan and what ever else is in the way.

Very ugly, always new short block and sometimes a long block.

Always very expensive, requardless on whether it is gas or diesel.

Maybe... but they would have to pull the engine to drop the pan, maybe they did, I just highly doubt it.

I actually saw this part, held the bearing and the motor had NOT been taken out. I thought I made it pretty clear that my info was not detailed, second hand, and I HAD actually debated not posting it for this very reason. . Due to my lack of my in-depth knowledge of the internals of the engine I would not speculate on causes. I'm sorry if you feel that I don't have anything better to do then to make up BS stories and waist peoples time. . Officer Bertram65, I can PM you with some contact numbers if you want to investigate the matter further to satisfy yourself that I have not lied to you :) .

I am pretty sure you cannot drop the pan without removing the engine so what bearing was it?

I questioned the story based on how you have described it, sorry if you took offense.

I'm not real sure. Like I said, I will be the first to admit that I'm no expert on the internal workings of engines. I don't know about the transfer case, but I do know that the oil pan was removed and on the shop floor. I didn't notice the transmission laying around, and I would have probably noticed that. Sorry I can't offer any real specific details.

That makes me feel good. Thanks.

Why would I make this up? I will keep your opinion in mind in the future when I'm thinking about starting a new post. I guess it's not worth waisting my time to post something that I think you guys would like to hear about. Especially if all it's going to do is cause people to tell me I'm a liar and I'm full of "bullstuff".

Coolslice,

For the record I don't think you're a liar at all. In fact I think you're a pretty reliable guy.

I checked my 2003 FSM and it says engine removal is not necessary for oil pan removal, but the transmission is supposed to come out.

Hopefully DC will install 2 new 12V engines in these trucks. They won't die at 17 miles. :)

Looks like your in the wrong forum again EBottema. Time to head back over to the 12 valve forum where your replys may be remotely useful. :)

Since fuel system has so much to do with the lubrication of the engine. :-laf

I knew I should have put my flame suit on last night, well, i was not trying to be technical or useful in this post. Since this is more of a discussion post and not a technical, or how to post...

Has anyone ever checked the 1st and 2nd Gen forums to see if EBottema shares his infinite knowledge and extremely well thought out comments with those poor souls also? Where does he find the time.

Subby, or newbie, I'm all over all the boards. I don't really talk on the 1st gen forum, mostly on the 2nd 3rd other and politcal. When you get your post count up, been around here as long as me, then you can talk. :p
