I agree . I love the smell of Klotz in the morning. Back in the old sled racing days, we also ran Blendzall and Union Carbide synthetic. They all smell great.

Has a nifty smell, Huh? I think the smell comes from the Castor oil that is in Klotz and I believe Blendzall. Although I have never heard of the UC syn. I am guessing it smells kinda like the castor base oils?

And what ever you do, do not use Golden Spectro. Yuck is all I can say about the smell.

I think I will go mix up some fuel additive + some Klotz as I need to fuel up tomorrow. I just hope the cat doesn't scrub the good smells out of the exhaust. As it is now, the cat makes my truck smell like an old propane powered Clark forklift. :{

I use 24 oz 2-stroke oil with 4 oz Power Service Diesel Kleen for every 5 gal of fuel.

this is way to much! I only run around 16oz per 5 gallons of fuel in a real 2 stroke. Guys on the VW list have been running this for a while. I think they found the lowest ratio that still gave them good performance was like 3oz per 10 gallons.

pwr2tow,

Have you ever tried to burn non-detergent motor oil? It gums things up. While what you say makes sence, in practice, the opposite is true... high detergent oils work better than non-detergents. Steve Keim

O. K. I'am no chemist but are you comparing burning or engine heat sludge build up. High detergent oils work better in the engine to keep it cleaner but I wouldn't run them through our CP3 injection systems. The old injection systems did not run as tight of tolerences and the injectors were more like garden hoses than ultra small holes that you can barely see and wouldn't even think they were holes unless you knew better. Nondetergent oil is just oil without additives so how can that be more detramental than running oil through an injection system with additives not designed to burn?

Like I said I'am no chemist and I'am not even going to try and explain the reasoning, burn what you want.

Cummins says you can add 5 percent used motor oil . Thats 1 gal. used oil to 20 gal. diesel. But strain it good first.

In fact cummins made a unit to put on interstate trucks that automatically added a little fresh oil periodicaly and pulled the same amount out and put it into the fuel tank.

Not sure if they still make this unit or not.

Seems to me newer fuel systems might not be compatable.

I'll let you know if it breaks.

I've been using Wal-Mart Super Tech Outboard 2-Cycle Ashless TC-W3 Engine Oil since day one, costs $7. 62 per gal. I have 20k with no problems. I use 24 oz 2-stroke oil with 4 oz Power Service Diesel Kleen for every 5 gal of fuel. My kitty ain't dead yet. I drive a few hundred miles daily and occasionally run her hard to blow out carbon. No smoke just bumper soot.

For the amount of 2 stroke oil and power service diesel kleen your using you could buy an extra 3 1/2 gallons of diesel or would have to improve fuel mileage by 1. 7 MPG according to my calculations (which are not always that good :) ). Maybe your onto something.

im going to run the amsoil 2 stroke 100. 1 oil. not sure if im going to use the marine oil or the chain saw style, im also going to add mmo and some amsoil diesel consentrate--we will see what happens

I started putting a quart of the Amsoil Saber Professional Synthetic 100:1 Pre-Mix 2-Cycle Oil every time I fill up. I filled up yesterday for the sixth time since I started using the two cycle oil and I have seen an average of 1. 5 mpg increase in my mileage. I was going to hold off on the oil this time just to see if it really was increasing my mpg's but I just did not want to chance it, it's been doing so well.

did it make your motor quieter and how is the smoke, power. ect

cbmkr,

MMO recommends 4 oz. /10 gals. of gasoline or diesel fuel & for fleet use in bulk storage tanks,, 32 oz. (1 qt. ) /100 gals. of fuel.

I've been running Primrose Power Master 405 & about 2 to 3 oz. MMO / 10 gals. I use the MMO for just a bit more lubricity enhancement.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, or not. More folks say that they USE the MMO than say that it's bad for the engine. The dosage I use is awfully light.

Diesel Power,

No, there was no difference in the engine noise, and I haven't seen any smoke at all. Or, should I say any smoke that appears not to be diesel black :D

amsoil

I was thinking about putting amsoil series 3000 5w-30 diesel oil in my motorhome ISL 8. 9 and o1 dodge high output 5. 9 would this be a good Idea? I have used rotella in it so far. Like to get the milage up some, thanks for any help on this , Larry

I have been selling chainsaws for 23 years, and a good chainsaw oil (Husquvarna or Jonsreed) Oil i have tested if you put a small amount of gas in an old aluminum pan and add some 2-stroke oil, through a match in it,when the gas is burned off the oil will be there the same as it was when poured out of the bottle, now you take a cheap 2-stroke oil and do the same expierment and the oil will be crispy black, burned up,So i don't know if good 2-stroke will burn, under 450 lbs of compression,But i had an uncle that work on a lot of the older diesel trucks, and a lot of them that he took down the top ring was stuck on the piston, causing blow by.

SO you think burned oil would cause it to get stuck?

I read a GM service bulletin for the Northstar engines (it's a non-rebuildable engine), telling them to use a certain GM cleaner thru the sparkplug holes (did not make note of part number), then idle it or something, and then change the oil. It's supposed to free stuck rings.

I have seen the annoucement about using no more than 5% biodiesel on the Cummins website. I also thought the Cummins position on used motor oil was similar too. Can you post a link to where Cummins says you can add 5% used motor oil to the fuel? Several folks have asked me about this but I cannot seem to find it. I thought remember reading about it on the Cummins website but my CRS is acting up again. :D
