Hey guys i need your opinion for this. I found wheels that are 20x10 and they are beautiful. Tires i have been looking at are the eagle f1's that come on the silverado ss's. I am going to get the 305's which have a overall diameter of 32" with the 20" wheels. What do you guys think. I am going for good looks and i also need good performance.

P. S. When this all happens my 35" bfg's w/ 800 miles on them will be for sale along with the stock chrome rims ;)

Here's a shot of my old truck with 20's, they looked great, I still have the wheels and tires. click here

Does anyone know of a friend that could use them?

Have you no shame!!! :D

OMG!! I was expecting a shot of a beautiful Ram and then BLAM!! It's a FORD??!!! Not a good thing to wake up to in the morning. Wait... . maybe I'm not awake yet and I'm having a nightmare?? :D

Seriously... those wheels sweet... . even on a Ford :D

after getting use to the wheel gap with the 35"s the 32" tire will sure look small under there [especially if you don't lower it 2"F/4"R] make sure they are somewhat weight rated [like 2900 or better] when i was planning on going 20"s [i still would like to, but wheel options are limited currently] i was thinking of running 325/50/20 toyo proxis s/t's. iirc, they are rated at 3042lbs per tire [or was it 3000, i can't remember anymore] and they have a pretty nice looking tread pattern]

what is the backspacing on those 20x10's you've found?

do get us some pictures of this when you are done...

You will get stuck in your first snow storm with F1's even if you use your four wheel drive. Guess it's a boulevard cruiser.

snow tires are a must for those kinds of wheels to be run. that is what factory rims are for with some more agressive tires like the bfg a/t's or some trxus m/t's... but for summer, those lower profile wheels&tires are great...

Point well taken.

Once long ago, in the late seventies, when I was XcX's age, I put high performance tires on my 4x4. I got stuck in a grass lined ditch. I switched back to truck tires and bought a sports car for handling fun.

My wifes suspension modified Volvo runs over sized Pilots in the summer and undersized Blizaks in the winter.

My 74' suspension modified Tran Am stays inside during the winter and will (God willing) stay out of the ditches.

I hope what ever tires you put on your truck makes you smile. :)

XcX - Don't sell your traction tires.

I wouldn't exactly call that ford thing good looking. And the wheels look out of place on a 4 WD. I would think twice about going with "20's" on your Dodge XCumminsX. I guess if you do you might as well go and put the curb fellers on, and get some pink dice for the mirror. Oh, yell... a big gold chain for your neck, with a big "D", and it wouln't be for Dodge. Probably make a nice getto cruiser, right.

20"s on a 2500

Allright, first let me start off by saying that I am not trying to offend anyone or start a war over what your truck should be used for but...

Let me get this straight. You bought a 6500 to 8000 lb. truck with four wheel drive, to put 20" rims on it. In my honest opinion that is just treating that truck wrong. These truck were built to work, and yes mine does every day of the week. I honestly can not stand to be at the pump, and see some guy in a suit and tie (not that there is anything wrong with wearing a suit and tie to work) getting fuel, and when I ask him what all he does with his truck, he just looks at me and says "I drive it to and from work, and that is about it. "

With 20" rims, and those F1's you are talking about, you won't be able to get over a speed bump in wet weather without sliding all over the place, let alone run over a beer can without denting the rims. Sorry about the long post, but I was just reading along and saw this, and had to say something about it. Anwayz, its your truck and you do what you want with it. I just wanted to give my two cents worth.

P. S. I just looked at the pictures of your truck, and that is a darn good looking truck right now.

I hope the more CDTs DC sells the more $$$s for R&D. Plus the more trucks sold the better the crop of used CTDs to welcome folks into the fold. Thus, I don't care much who is driving the CTD - why I've even seen women and small kids (17yrs) driving them!!! :D :D . What annoys me to no end is shaving . 01'' off the sheet metal to save weight. Come on DC, don't start making a POS - make a truck!

My truck sits in the garage all week because I drive company trucks, or mules. ;) However, as a weekender, I put 52K in 1. 5 years.

Nice Decision

Hey that sounds loke a pretty good idea to me. Now don't get me wrong 20"s look sweet on Escalades and what not, but on these big muthas get ya a set of meats, and this winter when you are chugging down 57, across 70, down Michigan Avenue, or just out in the burbs of Naperville and you see a car stuck in the ditch you can put those horsies to work, and help a brother out.

One thing that I have learned about this website is that everyone will definetely give you their opinion, but its you that has to make up your own mind. Good luck and Happy Holidayz.

Travis

P. S. If you ever make it down this way give me a jingle, and I will buy you a cold one at Fast Eddies or something.

If you have to have the bling bling rimz on your truck, sacrifice 1/2" and get 19. 5s. Not only will you have big wheels, you'll increase load capacity and be the envy of the TDR, not the envy of Compton. Where are the Alcoa 19. 5 by the way??
