2000 Chevy Malibu..who builds it?

A friend of mine just bought a 2000 Chevy Malibu for his wife. The car has ALOT of import like qualitys on it. Like the ignition switch that goes lock, acc, on, start. And alot of other things. Does Gm build those?? Its seems very well built for a GM product thats not a corvette :boo: lol. Mainly becuase it doesn't rattle!! We were just kind of curious. Thanks for any replies
