Allison conversion help

A stock Dmax TCM will not work unless it's tweaked.

By using the term 'tweaked' - are you implying swapping out the calibration file(s)?

I'm still a newbie in the Allison world, but I'm learning.

Thanks,

Matt

I know the D-max guys are taking a strong liking to EFI live for engine performance tuning, but I'm not sure if they can hack the Allison TCM with it or not.

Matt

They can,and are. I was just curiuos if that was the kind of tweaking we are talking about?

I figured I would through a tcm into a buddies dmax tweak it with efi live and then pull the tcm back out.

OK, cool. If I'm not mistaken - you still need to get the proper calibration files in place... they have to be within at least a 1/2 row of apple trees. :-laf

Matt

you won't be able to tweak it with efi live and have it work for a cummins application. There are many more parameters in the tcm that have to be changed and EFI Live is not capable of making those changes.

It's a complete tuning solution. . Not just fueling. . Transmission and all. Soon to control other control modules, such as BCM's etc. .

I've been wondering if an MH1000 Allison would work as it already bolts up to a CTD in Motor Homes? Maybe not a 4X4 but it should work for 2wd.

Nice job on the swap. I was wondering when someone would try this.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried to see if the input shaft from the NV261/263 transfercase that is bolted to the Allison in the GM pickups will fit in the NV271/273 that comes in the 3rd gen Dodge/Cummins and the '99-up Ford Superduty? I figure if thats possible, it'll make it easier on people trying to swap the Allison trans into the 3rd gens and if someone wants to do a Cummins/Allison swap into a '99-up Ford Superduty.

Scott

EDIT: Found another option to control the Allison trans. The link is below.

you can't use a 271 regardless, even if the 263 shaft will fit. There is no provisioning for a speed sensor in the rear of it. The allison has to have an output speed sensor on the rear of the t-case. The 261/263 is a really strong t-case anyhow. It is stronger than a 241hd.

OK, thanks for the info. I was unaware of the deal about the speed sensor.

They're not quite done with the LCT-1000 version...

Transmissions Presently in Development:

GM:

·Allison 1000, 6L80E

$700 for a TCM = ouch! You can get a used GM TCM for around 3-bills and use EFILive to tweak it after you get the right calibration uploaded.

I am aware of that part, but I just wanted to post up that link to let people know that the option of using that system(once its in production) is there.
