GMac said:you can't use a 271 regardless, even if the 263 shaft will fit. There is no provisioning for a speed sensor in the rear of it. The allison has to have an output speed sensor on the rear of the t-case. The 261/263 is a really strong t-case anyhow. It is stronger than a 241hd.

$700 for a TCM = ouch! You can get a used GM TCM for around 3-bills and use EFILive to tweak it after you get the right calibration uploaded.
