2000 power/heated mirrors on 1997...

I have purchased a set of 2000 power/heated mirrors for my father's 1997 truck. I know other members have made this swap and can offer some guidance. I am unsure of his trucks wiring and he does not have a shop manual. The wires at the connector feeding his old mirror are color coded: yellow w/black trace, white and purple. Can someone post their wiring info? I plan on a simple switch and relay to operate the heat function. As always, thank you for your help!

I tried this before on an earlier post but I'll give it another go. It's the purple wire that I don't understand. According to the manual:

Left Power Mirror
DB/WT Controls Left/Right Movement
YL/PK Connects to Left/Right Selector for left mirror
YL Controls Up/Down movement for left mirror
BK/LG Ground
LB/YL Heater. Other side of heater is BK/LG


Right Power Mirror
Yl/BK Controls Up/Down movement for right mirror
WT Connects to Left/Right Selector for Right Mirror
DB Controls left/right movement for right mirror.
LB/YL Heater. Other side of heater is BK/LG

I put 1999s on my 96. I would guess they are pretty similar to what you will run into.

All the info I had emailed to me did not match the either mirrors.

You only have a few combinations to try to get it correct ... three wires to three wires!

I would recomend cutting the old connectors off your 97 mirrors and attaching them to the 2000 mirrors. You will atleast have a direct plugin of the directional control (after you get the wires figured out). You will still have to run extra wire for heaters if you choose to hook them up. I just ran heaters to a lighted toggle switch powered off the KeyOn.

I think the heaters were solid black wires. You have three left (per side) to get the movement. I wrote down what I tried and after the third combination I got it. The oppisite side is basically the same after you get one side done.

Chad, I found the color combinations (I guess I did write them down). They might be the same for you. I hooked new style mirrors off a 99 to my 96.

Right side (96 Color - 99 Color):
Blue - Light Blue
Green - White
Red - Yellow
New - Black heater
New - Black heater

Left side (96 Color - 99 Color):
Blue (?) - White
Green - Light Blue
Red - Yellow
New - Black heater
New - Black heater
