No express service for me. DC just keeps changing my dates. Was D1 3/23, now D1 4/13. Was ESD (est. ship date)4/7, now 5/5.
Looking at other trucks that are ordered and built, it seems that the 1 tons get built quicker.

They don't update every Monday, that is a bunch of bull that I recieved too, they update each night. I don't see how they could update once a week when I called 4 days in a row and got 4 different answers to its status last one being that it had been shipped.

The ETH's that are getting delivered quickly may be ones that the dealer already had on order for the lot and it happened to be what the ordering customer wanted. All I know is I want my #$%^& truck. Been D-1 since 4/5 with est. ship date of 4/27.

Just orderd mine on 4/14. I was told 4 months at the earliest for delivery. Guess all the options I chose are on restriction or soon will be.

01 slt quadcab 4x4 ho 6 speed limited slip camper towing 3. 54 driftwood

Since I can't get driftwood with a 2 tone I might have the guys doing the spray in bedliner coat the sides below the trim so it looks just like the other 2 tone trucks. Just driftwood and black in my case.

I've heard of other people coating just the bottom couple inches around the truck to protect it from rocks comming off the tires and brush.

Seems like a good idea to me. Have any of you tried this?
 
I've ordered a ETHXDEE from D. Smith MTr on 3/16. The salperson said that I was getting a PU that they had already ordered and could make some changes. So hopfully about the first of May I'll pick it up. I could'nt get a posi/tract rear with a 3:54. Lots of you guy have. I wonder why??
 
Well I got some great news last night. My ETH/DEE 2500 4x4 QC LB is now KZ. Shouldn't be too long now, although I've read a few stories about shipment taking longer than expected. Truck was ordered on 3/24 and was the finale to the arbitration with DC on a '97 1/2-ton (Engine pinged incessantly, imagine that). Next stop the 3-gauge pod/Line-X/Side step dealers! Woohoo!

Dave Smith Motors is well known for having a problem with LSD. They pretty much flat out refuse to order it. Maybe since they're a "large volume" dealership they have a limited allocation of LSDs--just a guess. They've told customers it's very dangerous to drive in snow and ice with LSD. I say, let the customer decide what they want!! Dave Smith has great deals, but often other dealerships will match their price, and order the truck just how ya want it.

I've seen other threads about the LSD in snow & ice. I've never had a rig with LSD but I would guess that it's the driver and not the equipment #ad
Plus if it's that slippery where your rear keeps breaking away, drop into 4H and give it some exercise!(if you have it) At any rate, I don't like it when the sales people are trying to make the decision for you.

Regarding DC's hotline: those people are a riot! I'll call up and they'll tell me it's on restriction (of course #ad
), when I ask them what components are holding it up, first they put me on hold for a bit (must be on a different computer, can't imagine why) and then come back with a very inconsistent list.
Sometimes the DC guy/gal is sharp and gives me accurate information. Other times I think they get confused in the translation and give me the wrong component(s). I must say that each person I've talked to is very friendly and courteous. The only reason I get agitated is because I WANT MY TRUCK!!! From what I've put together from the experience, if your order is on restriction, it says just that on the screen. If you want details, it's on another screen or sheet and they look at the list of items(sometimes dependent upon assembly plant) and match what your options are with what's on list. There can be translation mistakes by the DC person. So take their feedback with a grain of salt. If you are suspicious, just call back same day and probably get a different receptionist, chances are they will tell you a different story.
I've also heard two different stories on how often they're updated (by the DC people):
One "theory" is once a week (Mondays)
Another "theory" is every night. Go figure...
Last I called (Weds), DEE was the sole holdback for my order.

BOMBERO: regarding your LSD, I remember about a week or two ago it was on the restricted list, so maybe your dealer saw that and realized your order may be delayed and he'd lose a customer. Just guessing... I believe it's off restriction now (or at least that's what my latest call to DC revealed)

I don't even think they know why. What did you order, and how long has the wait been so far? Seems as though the 2500 Quad Cab is taking the longest.

It is almost here! I went down to the railyard today and found car #978491. Lookes thru the gaps in the side, and there sat a 2001 Dark Garnet and Driftwood 2500 QC Shorty! Should be 2-3 days till I am driving it!!!

Ordered: 3/29

Built: 4/3
Shipped: 4/13
Arrived Seattle: 4/22
I'll be driving it: 4/25 (hopefully)

Only reason I say that is because I work for Union Pacific Railroad as a Train Dispatcher. Should have given me the railcar number and I could have told ya where it was and when it was leaving different places #ad

I tracked the railcar all across the country, using the UPRR Public Tricking service online! Sure was cool watching it roll across the country. #ad

Naw seriously glad it made it safely... currently in Colorado due to the weather its shut down, but yours went north out of Denver to Cheyanne because it couldn't fit through the tunnels out west. #ad

nascar: My order was placed 3/13; went D1 3/23. First ship date was 4/7, then changed to 4/21, is now 5/10. All options except snow plow prep. Patriot Blue/Agate.
 
The dealer called today and said my truck is built and waiting for final inspection. This has been the slowest month of my life, the truck was ordered on 3/29. How the can ship next day with fed. express!!!!
