What are the signs that you are having injector problems, have 160000 k on the truck, saw a posting where injector problems can cause engine failure.

rough idle, black smoke, poor fuel economy, missing, fuel in the oil ,etc. My truck has 567000kms on original vp44 injection pump and injectors. runs like new.

Bad injectors very rarely cause engine damage on a 24-valve, since it's a jerk-pump injection system. Injectors don't "go bad" on a 12 or 24 valve very often and when they do it's usually nothing worse than a slight miss, blue smoke, rough idle.

But on a common rail 2003 and up a bad/sticky injector can quickly kill a motor, because the constant high pressure fuel supply the injector turns into a blowtorch and destroys the piston. Unfortunately this has happened many times however as a percentage of the total trucks out there it's not that big of problem (especially when the truck is properly maintained and good fuel is used).
