I am changing my upper control arms and I have looked high and low for bolts and cant find them. Does anyone know where to get them or the size of them. I thought if i could find out size I could goto like tractor supply or something.

Joe,

I just tried and failed miserably... ...

I can find them using my link for my local dealer but no part number or size is called out. Looks like you are on your own.

It says to call dealer which I can't do for you today.

I made a few assumptions, looked up a 2001 Cherokee 4WD.

You need #5 and #6 right???

Mike.

Mike , Thank you so much for your efforts. I really appreciate you going crazy looking for me. Yes those are the numbers.

No problem, just sitting here catching up on a ton of paperwork.

Looking something up is a good diversion for a minute or two. :D

I would be comfortable with a Grade 8 bolt if they are US, or a 10. 9 grade if metric. Factory ones probably are less than that anyways.

As long as there is no flat surface on them to engage the bushing to create an eccentric for caster settings, if so you are probably at the dealer's mercy.

Mike.

When you say no flat surface are you refering to the neck having no threads? Should whole bolt be threaded

Sometimes, and I can't rember if it applies to the Jeeps or not, there will be a flat surface the whole length of the bolt that engages a spacer/tube that is drilled off center which can turn inside the bushing. That moves the arm back and forth to obtain the caster adjustment.

That might only be on the lower arm only, can't remember for sure.

May not even apply to a Jeep, just look it over before having at it. You will able to tell by looking at the end sticking out with the nut, the flat surface would show up right there.

I just wanted to mention the possibility before you took it apart.

Mike. :)

Joe,

Just found a Jeep parts website and saw the bolts. They did not give the size but looked like a normal bolt and nut.

They did have a couple of kits to make them adjustable, but it was done with the outside washers, not the bolts or bushings.

Tractor Supply should be fine if you take the old ones with you for comparison.

Mike. :)

I actually found two different sizes . an m10 x1. 5x78. 2 and m 10. 9 12mmx1. 5x80. I figure if they have them ill just buy them. Its only a couple bolts and then just check fitment.

Do you have a CAT dealer nearby???

Or possibly a K. L Jack store would have them.

They have a lot of metric bolts.

Joe,

Get me the last 8 of the VIN and I will call my local dealer to see what is up.

Could go to a kit or some other thing.

Glad to do it, and if they find something I will post the part numbers for you.

Mike. :)

Mik, I really appreciate it . I will get vin when I get home from work.

Mike the vin nums are 1L567117. Thank you so much.

Joe,

My very helpful guys at Quirk Jeep tell me the following...

Front Bolts

Part Number 6505154AA Available at a Jeep Dealer, in stock at the Boston PDC

Nuts for both front and rear bolts

Part Number 11506007 Available at a Jeep Dealer, in stock at the Boston PDC

Rear Bolts

Discontinued.

Bolt size required M10 X 1. 50 X 85.

You should be able to score the discontinued rear ones using the size for reference. At least you know what you are up against now.

Hope this helps.

Mike. :)
