Just saw in person the 2002 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton trucks! I even took a test drive in a "Quad Cab" model. All I can say is I certainly hope the 3/4 ton and 1 ton models are as well designed as these models are! I was very impressed with how well the truck performed in all aspects. It was very quiet, and smooth, even on a very bad road!

I also liked all the ideas Dodge has come up with in the cab of these trucks, such as the metal fold out floor in the rear seat, which makes the floor flat when the seats are folded. The rear doors also open a full 90 degrees for easy entrance and exit, and the rear windows go full down as well.

Looking under the truck, the frame is awesome! All the steering mechanism is behind the front cross member, and the frame is designed to collapse the first 2 feet in the event of a collision. I also liked the side air bags. In all the truck is very well designed, and very functional. Like I said, I hope the trucks with the Cummins engines are as well designed ase these are!

Glad the insides and guts are impressive, that will help.

I must admit that the front end is going to take me awhile to 'appreciate'. YUK

Was out shopping for a new car for the wife and"just happened" to drop by the dodge dealer. (been trying to talk her into a new truck but she says she wants a car:() Anyhow, took a look at the new half tons and I agree with David. Will take some time to get used to the front grill area. The doors are nice though!

I looked at them a few days ago, I like the inside, but the front is a little much, maybe it will grow on you time will tell!

I sat in one yesterday, WOW, what a disapointment! I thought this was gonna be a full four door crew cab. What a joke. The doors are nice, but after sitting in the back seat of both Ford and Chevy, the Ram is still small! By this time next year, I'll have a new truck, and based on what I've seen from Dodge, I'll be buying a PSD. I hear the 3/4 and 1 tons will be diffrent, but does anyone have a clue as to how much? The point of a crew cab is for more room, well Dodge 1/2 tons are still coming up short. I love my current Cummins powered Ram, but my boys are getting crowded, it's time for a crew cab and I hope Dodge makes the 3/4's bigger!

saw 1 last week. ifs in a 4x4, HOW DISGUSTING. cast aluminum arms. stupid. no ground clearance. P. O. S. glad theyre staying w/the solid axle in 2500/3500. i thought the cab was ok though.

2002?

Wifey and I cruised the dealer's lot today, they had 2 "crew-cab 1500s on display. One regular, one sport.

That grille

The dash... kinda cheesy, too generic.

The rear seat legroom seems larger than my Q-cab... ... NOT

I do like the fold down shelf idea though. :)

Salesman walks up, tells me "The new trucks look awesome, don't they?"

Told him I'd be keeping my "99 for quite a while if this is the direction the Rams are heading.

Climbed back in ORCA and left.

New looks for 2002

I just spotted the new front end look for 2002 on a 1500. I have been out of the loop for some time and my question is? will Dodge have the larger grille and thermo nuclear laser guided head lights for 2500 later in 2002.

The Back seat is ALOT bigger. I looked at one a few days ago. I got in the front and got the seat adjusted comfortable for me. Then I jumped in the back behind the drivers seat. My knees touched the back of the drivers seat but not by to much. Being 6'3 thats not to bad. I can't even get behind the drivers seat of my current quad cab. I was told by a salesman the 3500 and 2500s would be larger but you know how that goes.

One thing you must remember guy's,This is not a "Crew Cab"! I think Dodge is trying to get the best of both a "Crew Cab" and a "Quad" cab with the newly designed 4 door "Quad" cab. Since it has 4 independent doors (which do not need to be opened or closed in sequence) and the windows roll down completely, it appears to be a good mix in my mind. I just hope it goes over for them. Having to only have one vehicle instead of two like Ford and Chevy, it does make sence to me.

One more thing I would like to mention about these 2002 1/2 tons, is all the storage compartments that it has, such as under the middle of the front seat, as well as under the rear seat. The front center portion of the seat opens up to a huge compartment. This is when the middle section (consule) of the seat is folded up. Just thought I would mention this.

looked at it again today. doors unlocked so i tried to get in back seat. these old knees couldnt bend enough to get in and legroom doesnt seem much more than my qc. those pillars are in the way of entry. well, they call it a quad cab instead of a crew cab, cause its sized more like a quad than a crew.

im not impressed but i still wouldnt go back to another ford just to get a true crew cab. btw, my 3 cc fords i had trouble entering the back seat on them too. doors wouldnt open as far as they should of. at least the new crew cab dodge has wide opening doors.
