Check it out. Now remember, this is only the 1/2 ton model. Supposedly there will be a different HD line for the 2500 and 3500, like Ford and Chevy have. I agreee that the cab looks like it came off a Dakota. It also resembles the Ford in the rear picture. Here's the article about it. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/autoshows/chicago2001/dodge/2002ram.html

It actually looks pretty cool! Kinda looks like a little freshen up of the sheet metal, but not far from what we have now.
I imagine there will be even more electronic junk to have to deal with,so I think I'll keep my ETC for a very long time.

I'm still trying to figure out what the guy in the picture is doing. #ad

Finally, a picture instead of an artist's sketch. Looks pretty good. Hope that's a crew cab...

I sure hope the cab is longer than whats shown in this rendering

it looks like they took a Quad cab and shortened the front doors and lengthened the rear doors slightly. Even though the door handles are on the outside, we need rear doors more the size of a Suburban and less like a Cavalier.

Do you have any side views?

Thanks!

It really does have that boring Ford/Toyota Tundra look to it from the rear...

ft,
There are three pictures of the side view above!? Didn't those load on your computer as well?

I also agree with the comment that the cab looks small... hell, if you are already 20 ft. long, whats another foot or two between friends #ad

Well, by the looks of the pics and the write-up, it's still not a full-fledged crew cab, just a slightly enlarged extended cab, 3 inches larger than current.

If this is Dodge's idea of a roomy four-door, it's a real loser. If this is their take at a better extended cab, it's ok. They had better show us a real crew cab. #ad

Not too bad...

It looks like they slimmed down the monster wheel wells.

The large B-Pillar on the standard cab makes me think of the F-150 (blech)

<font color=blue>I am very happy I got my Reg Cab current body style when I did. First thing I thought when I saw the rear of the "new" truck it reminds me of the Ford 150's right now. And I don't like the way they "new" Reg cab looks... ... Might drive me to get an extened cab next time(and I am not a extended cab fan at all)! #ad

Thanks to those of you that posted the pictures...

For those of you hopnig for CrewCab hope ya get your wish.....

Been toying with the idea of trading my 98. 5 on a 2001. One reason for hesitation was to see what the new one's will look like. If this represents what the new ram will be... I better place an order. . But the current platform was an instant winner with me. . Not the case here. Maybe it needs time to grow on me. .

Not too bad overall, I guess. However in a few places I am offended of the near copy of the current F150 (which I very much dislike stylewise). Look at the front bumper, and especially the tailgate which looks almost interchangeable with the Ford! Also from the side, with the exception of the front fenders, it somewhat mimicks the Ford.

The news release I just read said it will be another year until the 2500 and 3500 models are available.

Most of my thoughts on this design are negative, but some are OK.

First, those big wheels aren't what I'd prefer. Especially the cost of rubber to put on them. If that is a crew cab I wouldn't want to ride in the back being 6' 4" with size 16 shoes. I also think that the grill is big enough to belong on a delivery truck. #ad

I do like that interior, and the leather seats. The lights are nice looking, but still too large.

My 2 cents.

That thing is as ugly as a mud fence... ... ... ... ...
