New to this board, but anxious to hear all the answers that come from the experiences on here. My 2003 (109,000 miles) has been in the shop for going on 2 months now! The Local Dodge dealer took the first shot at it and missed of course. Now it has been at a shop that was suppose to be the best around for nearly 7 weeks. You can hit it with starting fluid and it will pop right off and run. Doesn't seem to have any significant power lose anywhere once it's running. But if you shut it off and try to start it within 5 minutes after that it might crank for two minutes or it might not ever start. If you shut it off and immediately try to re-start the truck it still has an extended crank time (maybe 15-20 seconds) before it will start.

The Dodge dealer replaced both sensors on the rail saying that my edge EZ had shorted them both out. The box has been on for over 60,000 miles without any problems before this.

The local mechanic has changed the fuel actuator and we even went ahead and changed the lift pump. When he has it hooked on the scanner it shows no codes and all pressures are good.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm about out of patience and money lol.

I don't think your problem is with the fuel rail or lift pump because you indicated that the truck runs fine once it is started with starting fluid. I think you have a problem in the starting circuit.

Did anyone check the camshaft position (CMP) and crankshaft position sensor (CKP)? These sensors are used by the engine control module (ECM) to start and run the engine. The ECM uses the CMP mainly on start up but it also uses it as a back up sensor for engine speed when running. The CKP is used by the ECM as the primary engine speed sensor when running. See page 8I-10 of the service manual. I think the ECM also uses these sensors to determine when to inject fuel into the engine.

My truck had a failed camshaft position sensor (CMP) which caused the engine to stumble and die.

I hope this helps.

mine and a friend of mine both trucks did the exact same thing, replaced all six injectors and installed a new cp-3, cured both trucks, i am leaning more along the lines of the injectors because i had the hard, no start and replaced the injectors and it started great, but i replaced the cp-3 anyway because i had one and all is well, my buddies truck went to industrial injection for some upgrades and a no start, only start with ether problem and his too turned out to be an injector bypassing too much fuel into the return so it couldnt build enough pressure at cranking speed to start the truck, new injectors and cp-3 and now it starts and runs like new, my truck did it at 48,000 miles, and his at 110,000, sounds like its time for an upgraded cp-3 and injectors... .
