23. 5 Flat Country 70MPH

18 - 20 Up and Down Mountains 70 - 75MPH

62. 4 Gallons over first 1190 Miles = 19. 07 MPG

I'm halfway through third tank.

19. 07 MPG already? Longbox QC 4x4? Nah! Come on, you know better than to break in a Cummins by featherfootin' it! :D

Great numbers DIESELMAN

MPGs

Wait a minute! Dieselman says he's gettin upward of 23 mpg and then he comes back and says he's gettin' somthin' less than that? What's he got, two trucks?:)

Dieselman:

Is the 6X4 really different than the 2 gen truck? I understand it is a lot noiser 'cause it spins all the time. Tell me it ain't so.

. . Preston. .

I wish! The first numbers were staring for short terms, the current number is 91. 7 Gallons at 1641 Miles = 17. 89 MPG.

I am almost ready to fill 'er up again, I suspect LOWER because I have made 4 Trips up a 9000' mountain in 4X and 4X Low. DIsplay said 14. 5 after each of these.

TurboThom, What?? If you mean the front end, yes, there is no axle disconnect in 2WD. Less Parts. Front stays Lubed, Doesn't hurt fuel mileage. I would still like manual hubs. No, there is no noise, no Vibration, no front end jacking on pavement turns in 2WD. But there is no Limited slip or locker available for the front either until aftermarket invents hubs. I expect it.

I have NO complaints about this truck over my 2001 yet.

mpg

Well, I like the sound of 23. 5 much better, especially at 70 mph. I'll be happy with 20 mpg on the new 3500. But it won't be here for 8-10 weeks since I'm ordering up. :( I don't think there's a thing I left off except maybe a Banks conversion and I don't think CD is in that business yet.

JRG -

My dealer won the sale of a car ( Dakota QC Pickup ) to my wife by treating me right. Essentially I traded a 2001 (2000) 2500 V10 4X4 and $7800 for my new ride. I posted before about my swap with another customer before, my order matched his needs and I wanted the 3500, not the 2500 I had and had ordered. He paid near MSRP, mine was way under invoice, my trade $24K ($26K if new truck adjusted up to invoice). Fantastic! I can only drive one truck ( according to the wife ) and this is IT!

I Drove My V10 technically for free for 2 years, they cleaned it up, it rolled off the lot in 3 days for $26. 5K, the kid that bought it was very happy too! It was a tough sacrifice.

If you only make one friend in life, make sure he owns a Dodge Dealership!!! ..... and you buy Cookies from his daughter, and don't yell at his son, let his dog crap on your yard, take out his trash, wash his M-300, toss him a cold one over the fence, be nice cuz I think he's watching... ... :D

Trust me, after having to rebuild my V10 after only 83,000mi, I cant wait for the auto HO. This is why I have been doing LOTS of research. Now I have to find out how to get "farm certified".

The ones that I have drove have got 19 to 20 mpg. That was with a auto with 4. 10s. The dually with 3. 73 and a 5spd pulling a empty goose neck trailer was at 15 to 16 mpg. They were both awesome trucks I drove them for 2 weeks that was about a 6 weeks ago. :D

Dieselman, that's great mileage especially on a new truck and driving it like you've been. I've got 8k on my 2002 and the overall mpg has been 18. 57. That includes no towing and no street racing. I haven't been on any trips yet so I can't say what the "highway only" mileage would be.

Side note - I stopped and looked at a 2003 dually, 2 wd, Sunday at the local dealers. This thing was loaded and had a list price of $43k. It also had a very unusual paint scheme. I noticed on Monday when I drove by the truck was gone - must have sold it.

OK - Just to keep this thread alive

Filled 31. 19 Gallons at 1946 Miles, thats only 305 Miles since last fillup, over 185 of which were in 4X going from 6900' to 9200' at about 5MPH with 1500 - 2500 lbs on the uphill each time.

Thats an average of 9. 78 MPG!

So, 1946 Miles, 122. 89 Gallons, 15. 84 MPG since Purchased.

I'll keep this going to 300K if you'd like!

MPGs

Well, I live at 9,000' too, but have no intention of doing any off-road 4-wheelin. ' I have a Kawi Quad 650 for trails and stuff above timberline, but otherwise get in plenty of on-road 4-wheelin' just getting out of my rural driveway and out to the paved road in the winter. There's about a mile of hills (people from other parts of the country would call 'em mountains) between here and there.

But I am interested in highway mpgs, which is where most people drive their trucks. It's a significant cost factor for me because my new truck will be primary Xportation for my wife and me. And we go to Colorado Springs a lot to shop and that's 30 miles away.

web site

Who is it that has that real cool web site with the truck that cranks up and idles when you put the cursor on it? I tried to find it and show it to my wife, but don't remember whose it was.
