Hello all-

I am brand new to this forum. I just got the email that my subscription is activated. After months of lurking on this site absorbing gobbs of info, I am now a member. I am coming to realize how valuable this site is to those who love Dodge diesel pickups. I have grown up with my dad having many of them, and I now have one of my own.

As you can see in my signature, I have a 2WD truck. As most of you know, the 2WD Dodge trucks tend to mimic the stink bug stance, with the back end appearing high in the air. I believe it is actually b/c the front sits so low. So I would like to put a leveling kit on the truck. Is 1. 5" or 2" the way to go. I have seen some on eBay for as little as $80. I believe this kit was from Fat Bobs Garage.

I have also heard good things about Daystar kits. Does anyone have a recommendation for or against these or any other kits? I also know I need to have an alignment done once installed... any other pointers or necessary additions with such a kit?

I greatly appreciate your input. I am looking forward to being part of this forum and huge family.

2wd lift

I was going to find a set myself as I thought the front of my 2wd 3500 sat too low. I read here on the TDR that the poly spacers may not be durable enough for the weight of the front end of our trucks. I did not find a set made out of steel so I gave up looking. Since then I have grown to appreciate the fact that the truck sits lower as less air under the truck may help with fuel economy on the freeway. (just my opinion, I didn't do any testing to confirm it).

I have a 4wd truck and was able to level it by switching around the spacers in back. Steel spacers or a larger factory spring could be found. You would want to ck part #'s but I bet front spring off a 3500 drw would raise the front of your truck.

I'll never understand lifting a 2wd, especially a diesel. if anything, I'd lower the rear.

I'm assuming you don't haul anything if you're wanting to level the truck? yet another strike... a jacked up 2wd diesel that never has anything in the bed

I appreciate all of your input. I agree with fuel economy benefits... My wife has a VW Jetta TDI and I believe that the low stance does help our mpg's. Contrary to what it may sound like, I do work my truck... not every day all day, necessarily, but I have it for a reason. Call me vain, I just like the level appearance of a truck. Maybe some day I will be able to afford and justify 4WD.

I will look into the options listed here. Thanks again for the words of advice. I am open to all input.

just realize that if you level it and you put it to work, you're probably going to get the Ford "dog with worms" stance going on vs. the Dodge "ready to work" stance

lifting the truck is going to hurt fuel mileage
