I’m sorry if this is an old topic on here. I’ve got a sweet 2004 (305/555) 4wd stock suspension with 4.10’s. Swapping from stock 265/70R17 to 255/85R17 would get me pretty close to 3.73 highway cruising rpm. My question: will I have any clearance problems with this taller, narrower tire? Thank you!

I ran that size tire for many miles on my 2005 and it fit just fine, even with tire chains installed.

Only problem from my point is to get the torque to the ground with these wieners.

285/75-17 is the better choice and also easier available in case as the exotic size 255/75-17.

Taller tires won’t actually improve MPG.

1,725-rpm or 60-MPH is max potential.
Higher rpm’s and speed (aero drag) kill it.

A pickup is a 55-65/mph vehicle.
