Can anyone help me out here? I have a 04. 5 cummins 24v. When i am pulling a trailer and the temp gets over 210 it surges really bad. It doesnt stop until the truck cools down, would that be a govenor?
ya the truck has 80 horse bigger injecters but i dont see how that could be a problem
Because it will run the rail out of fuel if the lift pump is not up to the task, and cause heating problems. What are you towing and how are you driving it to get to 210? Thats working it HARD to get to that temp with a manual.
You really need to verify fuel pressure to the injection pump and make sure you don't have a bad pump first.
210° is pretty normal if your towing hard so I doubt that's the issue, but rather a coincidence. The thermostats aren't fully open until 207° so nothing to worry about there.
I guess I have never had 210° when stopped, but seems odd it would go to fast idle at only 3° above a fully open thermostat?
ya the dealer said somthing about a air flow sencer valve being bad does anyone no if that could be the problem, it's an automatic not a manual to.
