I'm trying to find the measurements on the oem pack. The picture that Sag2 posted appears to have 3 pads on the bottom that look thinner than the two I currently have. I am planning to pull everything out, new springs, over loads, U bolts and shackles. Now I am wondering if I need to find the thinner pads to replace the two I have.

What do you mean by pads?

Why not just pull the add-a-leafs? New center pins and new u-bolts.

Between the thick bottom leaf and the axle, the spacers or blocks what ever they're called. Would like to get this thing back to the normal ride height. I thought about pulling the added leafs but looking at the shackles, bushings and everything it is pretty worn out.

Gotcha, the only thing that appears to be effecting your ride height is the add-a-leads. The spacers look OEM.

How hard do you plan to work the truck?

If you do want to replace the springs I don’t think I’d bother replacing the upper overloads, simply wire wheel and pain the ones you have.

If you don’t plan to live at the RAWR I’d probably use the 4/1 spring pack from SRW trucks for a better ride. The 4/1 spring pack and OEM overloads will still handle the RAWR without issue but will be more comfortable at empty and moderate loads.

We currently have plans to get a fifth wheel and right now pin weights are running 2600 to 3000 so I will need the oem 2800# capacity with the upper overloads. I have found a 4(3/1/2Pad) set up online with a 2800# capacity

That’s not very heavy, I think I’d still go with the 4/1 pack I listed.

Thinking about just removing the two additional leafs after talking with the CFO a.k.a the other half. Does anyone know what length bolts are needed for the center of the spring pack? I measured it with the extra leafs gone and it looks like 6 inches. Also, can any bolt be used to mount the springs to the hanger and shackle? Looking at a Mopar site the foward bolts are called Truss head screw.

I would get the specific suspension bolt for the spring to shackle.

You can get a center pin that's a couple inches too long and just trim the excess with a hacksaw.

@SHobbs, When I added a leaf to the spring pack in the 1500, the new bolt was fine thread. I'd get a grade 8 fine thread bolt that is long enough to give you about 1/4" through the lock nut. The Rough Country kit had specific torque values to follow. The CFO's don't allow us much wiggle room without the proper paperwork being filed! Good luck.

Torque specs for front/ rear leaf spring bolts, shackle bolts, U bolts and center bolts? Looked everywhere and have yet to find what the specs are. I think the U bolts are 110 ft/lbs the reast I have no idea.
