Took out my rear spacers out of my spring packs and my launch shudder left also. With my little 6500 lb 5ver, still no shudder. If when to something heavier I may have to make some adjustments.

the more you load your truck, the less pinion angle you'll have, it already comes from the factory with the wrong pinion angle. a good chassis shop should know what to do. my shudder was taken care of by the guy building my race car, it didn't have enough negative pinion angle. loaded or unloaded, the pinion angle should not exceed 0 at any time!! if your angle gets to +1 or more, you will experience shudder. if you add any shims, have them spot welded in, you don't want those comming out. good luck!

my 1500 gas was lowered by an outside custom company and that needed more pinion angle along with my 1999 and 2001 powerstroke!!!

Just picked up my 05 dually 12/30/04 , I seem to notice the same shudder empty, don't know if it will be better or worse when I hook up the 5'er. I guess I will have to read more threads and wait to see what happens. Oops, guess I should change my signature and maybe my name cause the new 05 is patriot blue. ?! :D

bumpity bump

Just bumpin' this thread for those who haven't seen it. My shudder disappeard with a new center u-joint. Wonder how many shudders have been fixed the same way.

It's all in the joints. Chasing driveline angles is only a bandaid to stop the siezed joint from having to move.

Well, let me put it this way ... ... ... ... The dealer replaced ujoints twice and I replaced them once. Every time the old joints were replaced the shudder would go away ... ... . for awhile. I have greasable ujoints now, and along with factory driveline angles, don't expect the shudder to ever return :D

Neighbors 05 dually 3. 73 auto 4x4 has had a progessive worsening harmonic roar from 40 mph up. Peaked bad at 65 or so. I thought tires. (still think has some tire noise)Anyhow dealer replaced driveshaft. Made NO differance. I mentioned the TSB on launch shudder(shims) and they decided to check angles per TSB. (should have to start with)They checked them with his horse trailer hooked up found some number to be boarderline of max. Ordered shims and installed. Took care of 80% or better of his noise. (reason some parts are STAR only. New shaft did nothing for it))

Dont know if were talking about the same shutter but when i have my trailer loaded usually 18000 lbs I cant use reverse unless i put it in low range and taking off i cannot give it any throttle or it will beat you to death. Maybe mines a gear ratio thing

Mine is absolutely the angle of the driveline. It had the shudder since new and I was extremely disappointed in that. Through my TDR brethren, I learned that the angle was wrong. Initially, I added 2 3/16th inch steel plates to the carrier bearing mount. This fixed the problem until I added the Kore Chase suspension. I see that the KORE chase added 3 inches in height to my front and 1 Inch to the rear thus changing the Drive Line Angle (DLA) back close 2 stock and the shudder returned... 4 to 10 mph... I added 2 more 3/16th inch steel plates and the shudder is mostly gone... . I will step up to the Mopar 1 inch spacer for the center carrier bearing when i go to pick my truck up from the dealer... .

The TDR RockS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
