Is the "protection group" on restriction? I checked the Donlen site and it doesn't show as restricted, yet others are saying it is. Can someone give us the straight scoop? Thanks.

I just got a note from my dealer that the one I ordered with the protection package went to D status. I think that is they checked the parts inventory and all is there, so it will be assigned a build date next. Oo. Gawd, I am like a kid before Christmas. Can't wait to drive this thing home, and it ain't even built yet. I'll let you know if there are any changes. Good luck with yours.

Sounds like the protection group issue is cleared up, but make sure to check your truck when it comes in. My MSRP sheet on the '04 I bought from dealer stock list the Protection Group, but the fuel tank shield is missing. The transfer case shield is installed.

I am currently working with the dealer to get the fuel tank shield and have it installed. Since I was charged for the protection group the dealer is being very cooperative.

Jengle, have your dealer print out a current build sheet for your truck and see if the protection package is still listed. My truck also went to D status but the current printout no longer showed the protection package. I don't know if it is a fluke just with my truck or if DC has done that to all trucks.

Guys,

When I saw your post about DCX removing the protection group, I checked with my dealer to see if it would be removed from my order. What I was told was that DCX will not remove a option without the dealer requesting it because if they did and your order vehicle shows up without something, you might not take it.

BTW, I order on 9/4 and when my dealer went to place the order, he could not add the protection group. What he did was enter my order thru the old DIAL system to get the protection group and had the district rep push it thru. I checked this morning, again what status it was in and it's still in BX status since 9/9 with the Protection Group. If the protection group was not available, it would have been stuck in BGL which is "Edit OK, Parts Unavailable. " But with it in BX, it means it passed edit and it's available for schedule. BTW, my 2500 is being built in St Louis.

Crabjoe: where are you located? I'm wondering whether the state in which your order was placed has anything to do with the plant that builds your truck. My last two 2500s were built in St. Louis--both were flawless. I've recently placed another 2500 order, but do not have a v. i. n.

I'm in Maryland. Dealer said that Dodge was in the process of moving most of the 2500 production to St Louis and that was the reson for the hold. Not sure how accurate my dealer is but unlike other dealers I've spoken to, he has never BS'd me. When I ask him a question, he either does one of 3 things; gives me the straight answer, tells me he has no idea, or says he's not sure but this is what he thinks but will check. Most dealers I've spoken to in the past have always given me the answer, even when the answer is pulled from the thin air. The funniest is when you confront a lieing dealer and they do either of two things, back track or tell you your wrong.

 I did send my dealer a notice to ask about the build sheet. He is off today, but has been very responisive to any question I had, and even sent me a status note, unrequested for. I will let you know what I find out. I ordered a 3500 from a St. Louis dealer, but don't know where the truck will be built. I would venture a guess it will be a MO truck.

I don't think the Protection group is on restriction. My dealer got my order in with it on 9/5 (Ordered on 9/4) and as of yesturday, it's in D status. Meaning it's got it's firm place on the assembly line with all parts available.

Also I found out today that the most of the reps at DCX customer care ar morons. They had been telling me it would be built in St Louis, but today I got the VIN which showed it would be Mexico built. When I asked to girl, she double checked and confirmed it would be Mexico, not St Louis, MO. She told me that if it were a 2x4 2500 it would have been built in St Louis.

For those of you that lost the Protection Group on your order, I'd suggest you go talk to your dealer, as I was able to get it on my order. My dealer told me that DCX will NOT delete any part of the order to push it thru as that is not what the customer ordered.

I was at a local dealer today, and educated the salesman on the recent restriction on the protection group. They had an 04 2500 regular cab built in Mexico that had the protection group and a $45. credit for fuel tank shield that was not installed. He did say that he had a truck on order with the protection group, and nothing had come up about any parts availability problem.

Protection Package available! Anti-Slip on restriction!

Talked with my dealer today, the Protection package is now available without the skid plate for the fuel tank. It has been eliminated. I told him to add the Protection package to my truck. I ordered it last Friday. :D

He also said that the Anti-slip differential is now on restriction. I told him to leave the Anti-slip on my order! I don't want my truck without it!
