You can just buy a VB tuned to you specifications. Goerend, Garmons, HTS, etc, all companies pretty offer a VB only upgrade. All you have to do is convince yourself which company you are going to bet on. ;)

OMG, this is turning into a pain in the arse. I don't want to bet on any one. I just want something with better parts, but performs like a stock transmission. My truck is stock and has nothing on it that increases the HP.

Welcome to the slippery slope. ;) No matter what you change, you are taking a chance on the supplier. It is what makes life interesting. :-laf

A VB is realtively cheap compared to $6k transmission. Just imagine how painful THAT divorce is if it doesn't work out. :{

All you can do is call around and pick the one you have the most confidence in after giving them the requirements and asking for a solution.

The bigger issue is that I previously had the 1-2-1-2 shifting issue. I then purchased a new solenoid and transducer from Cascade Transmission Parts and replaced them with these new items during a recent transmission service. A month later one or both parts from Cascade Transmissions failed and left me with a truck that has no first gear and is throwing codes related to these parts. I've emailed Cascade and they are telling me no problem, send us the parts and we'll check them and send you a replacement. I took the solenoid and transducer out and emailed them with questions, but I let them know that we need to resolve this ASAP as my truck is disabled without these parts and I am unable to drive it until we figure it out. Since Saturday when I took the parts out and contacted them they are nearly ignoring me and my emails requesting a resolution to this issue. I'm ready to be done with them and would not recommend them to anyone.

So, no I'm in a pickle. I need a solenoid and a transducer, but do I put in the OEM parts from the dealer because they're easy to access, do I reorder the oversized BW unit and put that in again, do I order the GM conversion solenoid and put that one in or do I put in a new valve body and one of the new solenoids? I read a few things recently that are saying the solenoid and transducer are generally not the problem, it's the valve body. To this point, Suncoast even alludes to this in this item: http://www.suncoastconverters.com/shop/dodge-47re-dc487-1996-2007-valve-body/#product-details.

I'm ready to take it to the dealer and spend the $571 for them to do the OEM solenoid and transducer simply for the warranty.

It is still a ways from you, but, give Browns Diesel in Riverdale a call. They handle Goerend stuff and at least if you bought from them you have a local person to yell at. Would not hurt to have another opinion and see what they have in stock.

I think you need a new solenoid, the big one, transdcuer, and a VB harness with solenoids. I think you have a short in it that toasted your transducer. Thats about as close as my Internet Diagnosis can come base don your description. ;)

A VB with a shift kit would be easier to install. A shift would be cheaper if you had a reliable trans guy. Check with Browns and see if they can help you out. Sorry it all fell apart like for you, but like MCC says: sometimes your the windshield, sometimes your the bug. I know all to well the feeling. :)

Or call Mike at Inglewood Transmission in Fullerton Ca. I just had mine done total rebuild triple disc TC valve body input shaft all Goerend parts . Had the 1-2 hunt issue too even with the TSB redo from dodge it still did it. I didn't have 5k but it was the best thing I ever did . I am pulling a 14k trailer with Smarty jr. set up to tow mode . Good luck

Thanks Cerb.

Brown's is about a 3 hour drive and what worries me is if the transmission fails completely how do I get it to them for warranty repair.

When you say the big transducer are you recommending the big BW or the GM style with the billet plate?

Today I found what I think is a good transmission shop in town. They said they would rebuild my transmission (if I want to go that way) with a BW parts, a transgo shift kit, a aftermarket torque converter (can't remember the brand) for about $2,500. That's a lot cheaper than the stealership.

However, I think I'm going to have them install a new solenoid, transducer, harness and a transgo shift kit for about $650. I hope this works.

Just an update on my transmission. I took it into the local shop that I found recently. I had them install the following parts:

-GM Style billet gov pressure solenoid
-New transducer
-Sonnax 2nd gear servo
-Sonnax Accumulator piston
-Sonnax Kickdown Strut
-Sonnax band anchor
-Transgo shift kit
-Full oil change and new filter

The truck runs and shifts great. There isn't a hint of the 1-2-1 shuttle shift and it even seems like at highway speeds the truck is smoother. Very happy with the results.

Thanks to Cerb and all others that provided information on this topic.

I am trying to figure out how to navigate the TDR site and get some information on my truck, 06 with auto trans. I have 225,000 miles on it with trans problems.

Right now if I start it up and shift to Drive or 1st. or 2nd. it stalls engine, I can back up with no problem, last week when I drove it, when I came up to a stop or light, the trans would not

unlock and stall engine if I didn't get it into neutral fast enough. I had the trans rebuilt at 160,000 miles, not overly excited with work. Any suggestions? I don't know how to find a response to this question or where to look if I get a response.

Right here is fine. From your symptoms you may have multiple problems, and it might not be the transmission. If when you put the trans in any gear it tries to pull thru the brakes and revs the engine, it is likely the torque converter gone bad. If it doesn't do it in every gear and you can give it some throttle to keep it running the FCA is a likely candidate for changing. FCA is the only componeent on the back of the CP-3 with a wiring harness to it.

I know this is a three year old topic, but I am having the same no first gear issues as the OP on my 05 dually.

I have codes P1756, which is Shift Solenoid, and 0868 which is transmission fluid pressure sensor.

I've only had this truck for a few weeks, and about 600 miles. It shifted flawlessly carrying the overhead camper into the mountains, but back home it lost first gear.

The previous owner did the BW governor pressure solenoid, as well as the governor pressure transducer about 2 years ago.

I am wondering if my wiring harness is shorted and causing these items to fail prematurely.

They usually fail when added pressure is added to the trans by means of a shift kit or valvebody. Mine failed and wouldn't let it go into OD. Do you know if the trans was rebuilt? Wait for some other replys.
