What is covered on the 2005 warranty when the 7/70 was still in effect. Was this bumper to bumper, or extended drivetrain coverage over the 100K engine warranty.

I am having problems with the A/C and the truck is at the shop now. I have 40K on it.

Thanks

The 7/70 is the power train warranty- not extending the 5/100k engine coverage. An AC problem is covered under the 3/36 only unless you have some type of extended wartranty, then it is covered per the added coverage (if applicable. )

If you do not have an extended warranty, then I believe this will be on your dime because of milage, unless your dealer can work with you.

ON EDIT: re- read your owner's manual, I could be wrong and there may be a clause for other items.

That's precisely why I got the 7/100,000 extended warranty. I always hear from the techs that it's a waste of money, but this one was thrown in for me, and it's worth its weight in gold.

I believe it's worth buying the extended warranty, I did. Especially at the ridicules price I paid for it. There must be a tremendous markup on extended warranties.

When I bought our truck, I got a peek at the wholesale price of the 7/100,000... ... If I remember, it was $1100. The retail was $2300. When I told him to throw it in or I was going to GMC, and the fact that I had $10,000 to put down on it right there and then, he said okay.

I only paid $350 for it and I believe it will be well worth it. All it takes is one problem with a power window or power door lock and it will more then pay for itself. I also got the free oil changes, plus oil filter for 7 years at two per year.

What is the name of your contract plan?

I need you to bargain for me the next time I purchase a new turbo. I have an 04 and an 06 and no matter how I conjoled or brow beat the manager, I couldn't get free oil & filter changes. This was the fourth truck I've purchased from this same dealer.

How do you do it? Can you give us any basic suggestions/guidelines?

Respectfully

My dealer, Meloy Dodge in Albuquerque offered free oil and filter changes with every truck purchase for a limited time only. My son got the same deal on his 04. 5 at the time. I didn't have to ask for it. Send me a PM and I'll tell you how I negotiate a deal.

I bought an extended warranty for about $1,200 through Kendall Auto here in Oregon. Once I got down to the fine details after the purchase, I found that it was through an insurance company, not DC. I went back and complained that I had been misled and wasn't to happy about it. They gave me some nonsense about it and I told them to cancel it since it was still within the 30 days grace period. Man they were p****d off!!!

Anyway, we just figure the money went back into savings, collecting interest, and if I ever need it for repair work, I'll pull it out and pay it, without dealing with some moron on whether or not it's covered. And if I don't use it, I'm that much further ahead!

I'm looking at my gold credit card I got, and all it says is "Service Contracts, Daimler Chrysler Corporation". Then under my name and VIN it says, "Maximum Care Upgrade". The plan code is MCX7100M, if that helps. It's good for 100,000 or 7 years and has a 0 deductible.

This is the same Service Contract I bought.

Take a look at the posts on 2005 air conditioning. You may have a common problem that you can encourage DC to fix on their dime.

I have had problems with a 14 degree differential on the passenger side outlets compared to the driver side outlets. DW gets truly hot under the collar over this issue.

I have been to the dealer on this issue 3 times. The last time, they said DC has promised to specify a fix since it is a common problem. As a precaution, I also reported it to the warranty folks so it was under the 3 year policy.

Hey bowtie,

I feel your pain, those birty dastards, tried to sneak an aftermarket extended warranty when I bought my truck last April! But I caught 'em before I left & made them rewrite the contract. The morons wouldn't even sell me a Chrysler OEM Contract at any price! I am still pricing the warranties from different dealers on the internet.

I posted this question last month in another thread and got no answer... I'm still curious if anyone can help. Thanks. Russ

"I've often wondered if I got a fair deal on my extended warranty. I purchased the Platinum, 6 year / 100,000 mile, zero deductible plan from my dealer for $1557. I didn't realize it at the time that the company, Fidelity Warranty Services, was not a Daimlerchrysler product. Anyone have experience with this company and/or what a competitive price is?"

You will need to read the small print to be sure what is covered and what is not along with what is required on your part as far as maintenance record keeping etc. You may want to do an internet search to find their rating. There have been quite a few contract companies going belly up in the past. The price is somewhere in the average zone.
