I test drove the truck in the title yesterday. Has just over 76k on it.

When I drove it onto the interstate the steering wheel started shaking, not badly, but enough that I knew it was there.

I know on my truck I need new ball joints so it shakes when I get to 70.

Do you guys think it would be the same on this 06?

What else should I be aware of when looking at these?

From the reviews that I've read and the problems that I've seen on my own truck I would say that you can expect the front wheel bearing, tie rod ends, steering box, ball joints and rear drive shaft u-joints to all go out within the next 25K. From your post I would say that the front end is already starting to fade. These are great trucks but they have their problems as well.

Thanks for the response. It's unbelievable that generation after generation of truck and they still can't get some things right.

If you are looking at this truck and it's on a Dodge lot and are serious about purchasing it . . give them a list of things to fix before you purchase it and see they get it all done before signing on the dotted line.

The 2007's and 2008's had these problems and those trucks got covered by a tsb/warranty recall - talk the right kind of turkey to them and get it upgraded for the tsb/recall parts.

Have an independent mechanic look at the truck, get his/her list . . again, negotiate and have them get it right. They want their blue book price, blue book assumes in their pricing that these things are a-OK in the top pricing, andnot so OKin the bottom line pricing - you want it right for the money you will spend and the safety aspects.

If theydon't see your points, go elsewhere.

could be many things... but, of course, with the front end issues these truck already have, its hard not to assume the worst. Then again, it could be something as simple as a bad tire or no balance. .

On an 06, I would verify if the interior lighting issue has had the update or not. Its not a major concern, but you want everything to function as intended, or knock off $$$$ on the asking price for it NOT working as intended.

If its a Q/C,verify if the rear door locks, windows, and speakers all work...

And since you still have some warranty on the engine, I wouuld want to know if it has ever had a programmer or pressure module on it. .

Does it have the updated steering components installed???

Scan the classifieds on these Dodge forums and find a nice privately owned unit with a service history. Be patient. It's out there.
