Hello all,

I am looking for someone with a 2006 truck that is having the P1740 code after installing an after market torque converter. It is necessary that this person own and be knowledgeable about SMARTY downloading, etc. I need to acquire data using SMARTY S-06 PoD. This would entail downloading a data aqcuisition program onto SMARTY and subsequently using SMARTY to capture the P1740 code data. I will then forward this to MADS. Anyone interested can send a PM.

Thanks,

J. S. :)

No one interested? This program is from MADS for the SMARTY; they are looking at eliminating this annoying code for many of us here who've upgraded torque converters. All that is needed is a 2006 truck with this issue so the needed data can be acquired.

I have this code currently, cleared it just a couple days ago and came back. i think the smarty read TCC solenoid?? Truck seems to drive just fine.

The truck will run fine, but the code may return regularly. This is the reason some have expressed an interest in a permanent solution as the code can be quite annoying, especially if nothing is wrong; the ECM is seeing an insufficient drop (compared to stock) in RPMs when the TC goes into lockup. I am a bit surprised no one with an 2006 has responded to help in resolving this matter permanently. Any one?? This may be our only opportunity as I'm sure the folks at MADS can get quite busy with other projects.

I have this issue and would love to get rid of it. DTT TC and I get the code about 1-2 times a month. I'll help but I want to be darn sure this is all from/for Mads. PM me.

I heard from MADS some weeks ago, and they said they will be working on this again soon. Another option to eliminate this will be to have the code disabled using EFI Live once it is available for your model year truck. Either way, it can be done.

I upgraded last summer to a new transmission and have tons of P1740 errors, I clear them about every two weeks. Just bought my Smarty Jr and would be more than willing to assist.

i just realized that part of the reason i was getting the code was because my tcc/od lockup solenoid was going out. going to replace it later today. part supposed to be here at two. in the event that anybody needs the part number its 52118500ab. thats the oem part number. borg warner makes an upgraded part but idk the number yet since its not here yet.

I think timeless is right. We have installed numerous transmissions and valvebodies and only have that code when the solenoids were bad because of an aftermarket supplier. Original equipment was on back order when we were having these problems. Otherwise every aftermarket upgraded trans and torque convertor would have your problem and that is not the case at my shop atleast.

;) The Borg Warner is not an upgrade... ... ... they fail quicker than the oem.
