I finally got it loose going counter clock wise. I got it so tight when I was going the wrong way that my hook wrench had the marks of the pulley bolts heads and the bolts will have to be replace since two flats are now one flat.
An air hammers has always work for me on the 2nd Gens, but if you are going the wrong way, like I was on this one, it only leaves some real big marks on the flats.
The mounting nut is a 36 mm (35. 94 mm) but with the flat ends rounded off slightly. If you are using one of the 36 mm skinny fan hub wrenches it will most likely slip since they have an average opening of 37. 3 mm and less surface contact.
I used a 1-7/16" (36. 94 mm) Snap-On wrench but had to take three of the pulley bolts out to get it to fit since it is twice the thickness of what the fan hub wrench is. With more contact surface and a tighter fit we, had to get some one to help me, got it loose.
Since the engine is coming out of this truck, due to loosing a freeze plug and causing it to stick, I'm going to get a 1-3/8 wrench and make it bigger, using the fan clutch as a template and double checking it against a 2nd gen fan clutch.
So, to all of you out there, its is right hand thread and a 1-7/16" wrench works best. If any one has try a 35 mm wrench lets us know.
