Have an "06 Mega cab. Came with rear window with the heated glass. Really miss the slider that the 03 had. The slider makes hauling long pieces of wood a lot easier. Has anyone replaced one of these with the remote opening slider and/or suggestions on where can get a OEM type slider without going thru DCX?

Thanks

Just a comment. On y 03 a couple of body shops told me DO NOT use anything except factory rear glass in the Rams. . everything else has issues..... For what its worth... . I know expensive, my manual slider retailed for like $500. 00, Luckily I got it for 10% over dealer cost at $350..... another TIP. . DO NOT hit brakes with trailer at almost 90% turn. . It rocks enought to hit cab..... OOOOPS

I would say to keep the solid window if you can get by without the slider. You don't have that post running vetically in the window, it looks better and it also help deter theft, alot of break-in happen on the sliding rear window. Just my . 02

I was quoted $1200 for a power rear slider installed. I'm pretty sure the back window is now glued in place.

I picked up my brand new Laramie a few weeks ago to find the standard power rear window missing. It seems that if you add the defog option, they delete a $1200 window and give you an $85 credit. Boy was I upset. The dealer didn't know this (that's what they told me anyway) and when I filled out the build sheet on line, it didn't tell me either. It appears that like other options that let you know the configuration requires changes more than just the option, this rear window option neglects to tell you that your power rear window just evaporated. I am waiting for a quote from the dealer on the parts for the power rear window. I'll install it myself, that way I know the job was done correctly.

I've never needed a rear defroster in all the trucks I've owned, just selected it because I wanted it all, and for some reason this option gave a credit (even though it did not stipulate the reason). I guess it wouldn't be so bad, but this mistake is not something you could really plan for. I thought about going after DC for the change back to the power slide without the defrost... ... I would certainly be willing to pay back the $85 credit. That's fair... isn't it?

It has been common knowledge that if you order a slider (power or not) you DO NOT get the defrost option and VICE/VERSA... . if you order defrost you get a solid window. It has been this way atleast since 3G has been introduced if not before. My dealer told my dad this for his '03 and me on my '05. Shame on your dealer for not knowing this.

Its in the sales brosure, get the defroster, loose the slider. That's why I ordered the electric.

I have had sliding windows since 1996 and never opened any of them. I always put wood dowls in the track to keep people from opening them from the outside. All they got to do is stick a screw driver in the crack and break the plastic catch.

That is the exact reason we always ordered the SOLID non-slider winder also, plus they look much better IMO.

Not to metion much easier to apply the vinyl logo lettering on the back window. :D :D

Beware doing it yourself unless you REALLY know what you are doing. I recently broke the right side pane of my manual slider (loading long lumber)and decided "I'll replace it myself and save a little money". Big mistake. They use Urethane adhesive that is diabolically tough. The worst part is trying to get all the plastic trim out of the way that covers the joint where the adhesive is. I ended up using a sawsall. I had to remove the rear seat (quad cab) and loosen the headliner and trim pieces. The adhesive costs $20 a tube

the size of a 10 ounce caulking tube and you need a special primer (which I neglected to notice until I was ready to trial fit it and saw a big orange sticker with large WARNING on the window). When I realized how dificult it would be to do a good job by myself, I decided to have a pro finish my screw-up this Sat. and pay whatever he wants. I'll never touch one again. Let the pros do it.
