Just called my service manager and cleared my VIN and he was surprized of the info, he even looked up RRT#07-014 and found nothing not even the RRT#

Adam can you shed some light on this subject? Is there another reference # or any info pertaining to this possible issue? Still seems like a rummer to me.

It apears that many dealer personel do not know how to use their resources very well :-laf

It is very easy to find on e files.

Bob

Like Bob4x4 said, it is in DealerConnect, e-files, service tab, Rapid Response Transmittals. As of today it is the sixth item listed from the top.

Pistons Upside Down

Adam just confirmed that my truck which shipped on 4/11 or 4/12 and we picked up on Saturday isn't part of this recall. :)

Just heard from Adam again and he said for sure my truck wasn't listed in the recall but did say that my truck was one that had the pistons installed upside down and I should get that fixed ASAP. :{ I was wondering why it seemed to sound different than the other trucks I listened to. :-laf

How much was that upside down piston option???:D And how much increase in milage are you expecting???;)

What seems sorta strange to me is WHY, if "only 6-7" trucks are affected, does DC need to go thru the RRT bit - surely they KNOW where each of those trucks were shipped/sold - so rather than a nation-wide alert, why don't they simply and quietly contact the appropriate dealers and owners - instead of making it a major recall event?

I mean, Jeeze - if a SINGLE truck managed to go out missing a steering wheel - and DC fully KNOWS which truck it was and where it was shipped, is DC gonna do a nation-wide RRT - with thousands of customers and dealers left scrambling to see if theirs was the one...

The RRT is how they quietly contact only those that need to know. That is why many of your dealers knew nothing of it when questioned.

Like Bob4x4 said below, "If civilians saw everything behind the scenes they would never buy a car :-laf"

However, with our info hungry TDR members eagerly spreading each tid bit of info, a small quiet fix quickly gets blown out of proportion.

But I would rather the info be available, even though it may cause a scare or two, than not have access to the info at all.

Ashame they did not do a 53 block recall quietly. But then a few thousand trucks returning to the dealer and sitting on the back lot probably would not be quiet very long. Curious as to why they even care assuming it is only a few vehicles. They left the rest of us hung out to dry with numerous things.

Yeah, I guess I am still a little bitter at DC:rolleyes:

So, after 66 posts on this subject, have any TDR members been affected by this recall?

I suspect those who ended up with a #66 block wish that Dodge/Cummins had reacted as quickly and throughly.

Your joking right???? Piston's installed upside down?? That is impossible! How would they be connected to the Connecting rods???

You must be kidding us about a recall for upside down pistons.

Yeah I thought the same thing on the pistons

maybe they put the rings on upside down and people got confused

i was told that they changed the way dealer connect is setup recently that must be why people are having trouble finding it. Chrysler also likes to keep things like this on the down low and only notify the people who need to be contacted. I understand why. I was worried when I first read this post since I just spent 50k on a new truck and was about to dump another 1200 into the bed of the truck the next day I am sorry if I was i any way disrespectful with doubting the original post.

"Contaminated crank shafts" (sp) Would a crankshaft be considered contaminated if it had sooty black diesel engine oil on it?

I am not dumb enough to make the statement that Cummins has not and will never produce engines with defects but I am skeptical of this report.

Service department employees of most dealerships I have ever had experience with are about the last place I would want to receive information from.

I have more confidence in Cummins than to believe that story until I see actual press releases, TSBs, or recall bulletins. I wonder how many million miles these engines ran during extreme testing before they were released?

For my money, TDR member EB is a lot better source of information than this rumor.

Not a rumor.

Late to the party. ;)
