It is legit, don't be so quick to shoot the messenger. There is a rapid response, the language does include crank contamination and engine replacement. The trucks will be sold at auction only after engine replacement.

Bob

Bob,

No offense, but anyone can post anything on the inter-net.

I am relatively new here, and see that you are a long-time member with over 3000 posts.

It would be helpful if you would state your authoritative source or industry connections,. . i. e. , How do you know?

Also, if your source is knowledgeable about this issue, perhaps you could get us some more specific info re. which trucks are involved. [ I am among those awaiting a new 3500/6. 7 that is underway on a railcar, presumably from Mexico, since it passed through Bald Knob,Ar. and Poplar Bluff, Mo. , enroute to Valley junction (St. Louis railway interchange). VIN: 3D3MX48A17G812406]

For those who noted my earlier post re. Adam's comment on this issue, I have deleted it, and sent Bob's post to Adam, inviting comment here at TDR. If the earlier "BS" statement I posted turns out to be mistaken, I didn't want to leave it here attributed to Adam.

Thanks!

I too am skeptical of the recall, if it is a RAPID RESPONSE type of recall why dont the service departments know of it. As fast as communications are today I would assume they would know already as you posted this on wed (4 apr) and the speed of info by today standards would equal a month in the 80"s.

... as you posted this on wed (4 apr) ...

This thread was started on Friday, May 4th.

Maybe you need to flip the page on your calendar :-laf

Rapid response#

Without a rapid response# there is no way to verify this

I do know that my VIN# is clean and it does not apply to my truck which I got a few weeks ago there was nothing sent by Chrysler in the daily news to the dealers and there is nothing is the dealer connect system backing this up.

it is possible that this is true but nothing has backed this up yet

Even if true, I don't see selling the trucks at auction. If the headlight is burned out, they replace it and sell the truck as new. If the engine is defective and replace it with a new engine, the truck is still new.

I would think an engine transplant once out of the factory would change the vehicle status - at least in the mind of the owner.

Just ask yourself if YOU had a choice between a new truck with NO known issues, and one that had been thru a field swap engine transplant at the hands of your local dealership "experts" - which would YOU choose to drive off the lot - be honest now... ;) :-laf :-laf

Hell - I don't trust the locals to change my OIL, let alone an ENGINE!

Guys, remember that your trucks have VIN # well that same VIN # is suppose to be stamped into the bock. If they replace the engine then the VIN # don't match and it is not considered a new vehicle. I doesn't matter how much the fix is. I believe for a dealer to sell a vehicle the body and motor VIN #'s have to be the same. Maybe some of you dealer guys can verify that?

My understanding is that it is not up to DCH if they have to auction but they have to abide by the rules that govern auto manufactures. Just like if they make a certain % of changes to any vehicle is is required to be a new model year.

Reminds me of when the Jeep Liberties came out and Chrysler had to rent a huge warehouse to store all of them in while they swapped the defective engines for new ones. It was 30,000+ vehicles I believe.

I live in Toledo where they make the Jeep Liberty. there is always a stockpile of them things laying around for one reason or another. seems like there is always something wrong that they are on hold for. there are sometimes enough to fill up a couple of mall parking lots.

My friend who is a head tech at a dealer replied to my message and I posted it here in this thread. He said they replaced vehicles for paint problems. He also said on the chargers they had crank shaft issues and they were replacing the vehicles. if there is a rapid response on these trucks call your dealer and have them run your VIN# mine came up clean so I feel safe that I am not going to be getting another vehicle.

For all the sceptics it is fact! Why is it that you bad mouth dealers as not knowing anything, then when your dealer says they have not heard of it it is gospel:rolleyes:

The rrt# is07-14,it won't do you any good,I doubt you have any access to info or you would not be asking these questions.

The only dealers that are notified of the rrt are the ones that have affected vehicles.

Bob, I don't know who "you" is intended to be,... but since I addressed my last post specifically to you:

If concerned parties asking reasonable questions from the best or only sources known to them, and placing some trust, by necessity, in the answers they receive, are "Skeptics" in your book, then perhaps you could use a few skin-thickening treatments. (A number of years in any fire station should do the trick. )

I believe I stated my reasons for asking for your credentials reasonably, ... in light of the fact that in a world where this forum is read by any number of people world-wide, not everyone is known to everyone else.

Thank you for the rrt#,... there may in-fact be others on the planet who can make use of it (such as other dealers having to field questions from THEIR concerned customers. )

Re. people who ask questions because they don't "have access to info".

Isn't that a "Duh!"? Why else would anyone ask?

Assuming your last statement about "affected vehicles" is accurate, this is also reassuring to know, and helps to explain the fact that some dealers seem unaware of the situation.

Thanks for the factual content.

I, for one, could do without the impatience and condescension. :p
