I shure like my 07 has 44k on it runs great. I just moved and I have 3 psd fords that are all modded and this dodge pulled all the bigger loads faster and with ease compared to the fords.

Because of guys on the TDR that really did their research, I was one of a few that found a new '07,5. 9 with the LATE G-56 (6. 7 ratios). Both my . 01. 5 and my '07 were bought with advice help from the TDR. BOTH, ('01. 5 sold,) have been outstanding trucks.

My only gripe is the "chincy" clutch.

How can the late G56 be identified? Also, what is the difference in the ratios? My `07 5. 9 was built in late November `06. And yes, I do love my truck!!:D

There is a sticker on the side of the transmission that has a id number on it. The early g56 starts AG and the late g56 starts AE.

Look for this sticky label on the trans. The METAL plate doesn't say "AE". The ratio difference is early G56, 6th was . 79. "AE" tranies are . 74.

Love it. Only issue so far is a front pinion seal. It has its quirks, and wish I had the AE ratios, but very glad I bought it. Plan on running it for a long time...

Just move up to the 285-75-17's and you've got nice highway gears. Not a efficient as stockers w/ Motorhead's ratio but pretty good.

If you find one, dont drive it. If you do you'll buy it. Nicest truck ive personally towed with. my $. 02 LOL My dad has an 06 with tons of goodies, and it is an awesome truck. . Every time i drive it I get the itch. Too bad my 01 isn't worth trash in this economy.

I have a '06 Longbed Mega cab with 56k miles. No issues and I really enjoy it. It also runs great on biodiesel that I brew myself. I just might get another Mega cab for the wife.

Love it!

I sold a bombed and totally trouble free 2001 Ford 7. 3 to buy this truck and was a bit worried as to rather I was making a mistake. End result, best truck I've ever owned bar none. I will confess, the turbo went out at 8,000 miles but was told that Holshot had recieved a bad batch of bearings. Now I have a total of 32,000 miles and nary another issue. Bone stock and does 17 to 17. 5 mpg at 70 mph. Not bad for a 4x4 DRW.

Great pickup for what I do. ~70k miles/24 mos. old and it does 20-22 mpg. I used to trade pickups every 2 years when I was younger and dumber. I plan on keeping this one for a long time-that's not the same talk I hear from my friends with 6. 7's. They too-will be great once the bugs are worked out.

Thanks for the info - mine has the "AD transmission" so I didn't luck out on the gears. No biggie since my 35" tires somewhat make up for it. :D

18,000 miles on my 2007- 3500- 4X4- 5. 9- 48RE, Truck has not given me a problem at all just checked the mileage on the last tank of fuel which included several hours of snow plowing. 17MPG on the computer, 19 by the calculator. Worst winter in Ohio for several years! Global Warming my a... ... . !

'07 5. 9, 3500 SRW, 2u fuel filter, no engine mod's. Injecter crapped out at 36,750 miles. I think these new 24 valve trucks trucks are great if you don't drive them more than a couple of hundred miles from a dealer with a $100K worth of diagnostic gear. I think they are totally unreliable and they get worse every year... Thank you EPA. My '99 CTD made it to 144,000 miles with only lift pump problems. I bought this '07 truck because I needed 4WD for Alaska, Yukon Territories and the Arctic for photo work. Most of the 36,000 miles on the '07 was up to AK from the Florida Keys and return. On that trip we had a leaking seal replaced in the transmission. Now I'm afraid to make the trip to remote places, since statistically there are so many more things to fail, and when they do your "dead on the road". I would love to have this truck with an all mechanical 12 valve engine and mechanical lift pump. At least if it quit one could do roadside repairs... Try that with the new trucks, or cars for that matter.

07 got the good manual gearbox ratios but like said above the aftermarket hasn't embraced it as much as an 06. Tst still hasn't released a power max cr for anything past build date may of 06 I believe it's due to different injector sequence or programing of the sort which melts pistons with a Tst on it. I would get an 06 due to this. That's what I had and was very happy with Tst,5 in turbo back, intake and Fass pump and filter assembly fueled by wvo

Add me to the list of those of you who love their '07's. Just rolled 41k with no problems so far. I love the smarty jr as well. I can't wait to get gauges, and when my warranty finally expires to build the transmission. I'd also really like to put a good aftermarket exhaust on as well.

I have an 07 5. 9 and have had a few problems with it. Two weeks ago, I had it towed in for #4 injector replacement, under warranty, but paid $450 to get it towed 75 miles. About a year ago, had the fan clutch replaced. That's the only mechanical problems I've had. One dislike I have about it is the poor fuel economy. I got about 10 mpgs the first tank, gradually building up to a high of 14, leveling out to 12, give or take a half mpg, for the last 12 months. I've been working at a gas plant 102 miles round trip, with little or no idling, stop and go city driving. The diesel tech tells me to wait. I have 51000 miles and would assume that it is broken in.
