2007 Cab marker lights

Hey all,

What hole locations are correct for 2007 dodge cab marker lights? My owners manual shows the mounting screws front and rear. My buddy got me a mopar marker light kit (82207252AB) for xmas and it has mounting screws on the sides. I see on ebay, they have clear and smoked lights listed for 03-07 trucks with holes front and rear and lights listed for 99-02 trucks have mounting screws on the sides. The mopar kit is suppose to fit 03-07 trucks. I don't want to drill holes for the wrong lights!! Thinking maybe my kit has the wrong lights. Thanks!

I just helped my buddy replace his old cab lights with the smoked ones... The holes should be front and rear. . I think you have the 2nd gen ones. . If your not sure stop by a dealer and look at the ones on the lot..... Good luck... . Wes

Just finished doing the cab lights on my 07' 5. 9 Mega Cab this last weekend.



Here is the kit I got, it said 2006 and above on the instructions. I am very happy with the results and would not hesitate to do it again. Drilling holes in a new truck is lots of fun Oo.

Note: I decided to do this after reading a complete write up and install, with pictures, on a 2006 Mega Cab from another web forum. These were the lights that this person used. Before he started he went and measured another truck that had ones on it from the factory to be sure they were correct.

You know I feel like the biggest idiot I just went and looked and you are right they are side to side screws... I guess I had too many Budlights. :-laf . . LOL... Well I'm sorry for any confusion I may have caused... . Wes

I think you installed the exact same kit I did. I just measured everything out 5-6 times punched the centers with an automatic center punch then drilled without stopping and thinking what I was about to do. To be honest, I was shaking a little by the time it was all over. The biggest pain was getting the headliner down. I wasn't planning on completly taking it down, but I may as well have. I took off the A-pillar, B-pillar and C-pillar to get it to droop down enough for me to work above it. I do have a question, did you run the green wire through the firewall to the TIPM as per the instructions. I thought I had a plug under the passenger A-pillar but when I tested it with my multimeter I got nothing. So I flipped the harness around and will run it into the TIPM and splice in to the parking light power lead behind the TIPM.

Erik, that's what the guy did that posted the original write up. Except he didn't test that plug and went ahead and put the headliner back up before he tested everything. #@$%! He ended up going through the firewall, as I did and wired it to the TIPM as per instructions.



The instructions leave a lot to be desired as far as detail go... I guess that's why we subscribe to these forums so we can find out the real deal. :-laf



The biggest problem I had was those little round things that snap in between the headliner and the cab roof where the sun visors mount. I had also thought about dropping the whole headliner... too lazy.

Well I have installed cab lights on my 2003 and my new 2006.

The lamp kit and layout are the same.

I also never had to run the feed wire through the fire wall. The 2003 had a feed at the firewall left of the brake pedal.

The 2006 has a plug on the right A pillar midway up from the dash. The white wire feeds the factory lamp set, so that`s what I used too... .

Quick and easy. No wire stringing through the firewall makes for a very quick clean install that is otherwise a factory setup.....

If the lights are factory installed, the use the front to back mounting screws. The accessory kit has the screws side to side. The gaskets are different too. Why can't they make them the same? I don't know.

I just installed a set of the Recon LED cab lights. Only complaint is that one of the five is yellow; the others are amber. Who knows why, but it annoys the hell out of me.

Thanks for the info guys. Did you guys use step bits or regular drill bits? I agree, the directions are poor. Like where the wire is to come through the firewall, shows a bad drawing of it and I have no idea where it's coming out. At first I thought it was coming out of a harness loom, but looks like it's coming through the firewall itself. Where did you guys bring the wire through the firewall? My concern is removing the headliner, trim, and overhead. I'll probably hold off till I get a FSM and hope it has details on removing everything. Just thinking of drilling holes in a brand new 40K truck plus interest, makes me feel pukish!! I was going to have the dealer do it, but too scare of getting a hack job. I don't like the idea of the harness not being plug and play. I hate when I need to hack into wires. My old 93 CTD was plug and play. I guess when they say production style, they mean close. :-laf

Both of my parking lights work so its not a blown fuse. So right now its under my dash waiting for some nicer weather for me to drill through the firewall and run to the TIPM. I am also putting switches in my OH console so I will run a bunch of wires for those as well. I'll post some pics when I am finished.

The connector has two white wires. Grab a test light and find the correct one. You don`t need to drill the firewall

my connector had a white wire and a black wire attached to a black connector that was "push-pinned" to the passenger A-Pillar. I tried using a multimeter and got no amps on either wire. And yes I did try and turn the parking lights on.



I am mounting a multi-fuse distribution panel under my steering wheel behind the knee bolster so when I drill the grommet for the clutch (I have an automatic) I will just run the wires through there.

Well I went to my buddys house today and looked at the cab lights again. This time no budlight involved... . I am positive that his 2007 have the screw holes front and rear... ... . He said that they changed in 06... . I am 100% positive..... Wes

You are exactly right! My factory 07' cab lights are front and rear. All factorys are front and rear. I think Mopar does this to differenciate factory from OEM add ons for warranty issues

Hooked up the lights this weekend, piece of cake. Just followed the instructions using the service manual to make sure I was using the correct wire at the TIPM. The hardest part was stripping the insulation from the wire to connect the power lead for the lights. Then I crimped it and soldered it to make it nice and tight. My soldering skills aren't what I want them to be, it looks like a small animal puked silver over the connection. But it works. From start to finish, the hookup took less than 60 minutes and that includes drilling through the clutch linkage coverplate. DrDiesel, I already had the power lead running down the Driver's A-pillar so I didn't want to take the headliner down again.

Yep. The factory installed cab lights have screws front and rear. The dealer supplied aftermarket ones are side screws.



No idea why. I didn't notice this until I went to replace the amber ones with the smoked recon LED's. I got the wrong ones!



I picked up the Recon LED's for 98-02. They have side screws.



I have not installed them. . But they look like they will fit.

I want the recon cab lights but I just can't bring myself to drill holes in the nice shiny waterproof roof! Scary.

I have the factory sunroof and have been told (by the dealer) that I can not install cab lights due to the motor (front mounted vs. side mounted motor) placement. Can anyone verfiy this statement. I would love to have the RECON lights on my truck.
