Huntingdon County Fair.. Truck Pull.. Sat. Aug 11th

Well I am off for the annual trip to Carlisle to check in and go to the one of the best car cruises around. The night before the All Chryslers show is full of sweet rides and loads of personalities floating around, along with a little tall tle telling also. Hope to see anyone who shows up and it doesn't rain like it did earlier, sheesh. At least I HAD a clean truck until I took my daughter for lunch today..... Andy

I'm there this weekend - vending in the swap meet area, selling off all my old Mopar parts. I just came home to take care of a little unrelated business and I'm on my way back. Right now they are experiencing a massive down pour! The weather should be better tomorrow though, and the turnout is already high for Thursday. I'll try and make it over to meet the group, but already this morning stuff was selling so fast I almost couldn't get away to come home. Hopefully by Saturday I'll have everything sold and can to check out the show.

FWIW, I'm selling a bunch of `70 Charger and Challenger parts I've been sitting on for a decade or so. :D

Well tonites pre-show show went very well even though it rained at first. Many sweet rides amongst the crowd and a few well known racers also. "Big Daddy" was even seen slipping around looking at the cars and trucks along with chatting with a few.

Two favorites today.....

A pristine Plum Crazy Purple,White Alligator top, white interior,1971 GTX 426 Hemi 4spd Dana and not wanting to be outdone a 1968 Original, uncut, unmolested Hurst Hemi Dart. I did take photos of todays cars and will get them up tommorrow night in a album for those who wish to see them.

My Entertainment, the comments about our beloved diesels,Like... ...

"WHAT you can make HOW much power with one of these things"

"Can you get that exhaust pipe any bigger?. "

"Hammer, your truck is filthy". . grrrrrrrrrrr,a wiseguy eh.

And the best time of the night was late about when the show was done,me making a very poor attempt to explain to 3 very polite Quebec men from Drummondville,PC about the diesel trucks.

Tommorrow is supposed to be nicer weather and I hope so. I drove up to the show in a monsoon and drove home in one. If it keeps that up I may need a canoe tommorrow... ... . Andy

Well the All Chrysler Nationals have come and gone and for those who went they seen a whale of a show. I have never seen so many crs and trucks in one place showing all the muscle cars from years gone by. I didn't get to cover it all as it was too much to see in the days allowed and try and cover the parts area too. To those who do not come, you miss one of the best,if not the best Mopar shows in the nation. There is something for everyone.

Here are the links to some of the trucks and cars I seen. Most of the trucks are diesels with a spattering of others and the cars are a bit of everything. However,I did not make it back into the LX platform area, the Peons nor the PT Putzers. They had the entire back of the lower field covered with them and after walking looking at the rest my knees were wiped out.

So I hope you enjoy some of what I did take and maybe next year we will see more of you there. My personal weekend favorites were the 62-65 Max Wedges but the Bighorn and the A600 rollback with the Common rail conversions was cool too... ... . Andy

P. S. ---Someone up in NE send HemiDart a roll of Bounty before he starts looking through all the pics. I hate to see him slip in the drool and hurt himself,LOL.

My 3 year old made it a rough weekend, and then add my 1 year old into the mix. I made the mistake of registering in the convertible class. Instead of putting us in a featured area, we were shoved in the back. Also, they didn't have enough space for older verts, so we were in the Sebring are on Friday and the Prowler/Viper area on Saturday.

Anyway, here are a few pictures. The car isn't quite done, but the 582 Hemi was running great. It took a little time to get used to driving a 4 speed again. The car was a column-shift auto 2 years ago.

I had a great time at Carlise as allways.

Hey Andy Im thinking of getting into the lettering cars and trucks. Catch is, it needs to be dark and I need to be intoxicated as this makes for much better results... . LOL

Also thanks for the pics. I guess in my case I could polish a turd.

Next year I may have my own Vendor space. I look foward to unloading a bunch of stuff thats been taken up space.

Ok Who is at All Truck Nationals ?

No one is here... ...

We are all a figment of each others imigination.....

All Truck Nationals were as big as ever and Saturdays showfield could not be covered at one time. I have never seen so many trucks in my life at one place at one show. This show is a great time and should be put onto each and everyone list to attend. The "Big Rig" area was HUGE and I have never seen that many rigs in for it. The late afternoon Saturday annaul rendition of their "Musical Train Horns" could be heard from one end of the show field to the other. The Dorio owned "Rollin Transport" soft sider built by the "Chrome Shop Mafia" was a piece of art that had to be seen and heard to appreciate it. There were lots of sweet rides but this one had it all, looks, killer sound and attention to detail. There are some shots of it in my photo album and trust me when I say they do not do it any justice.

Lloyd and CJ came in to attack the dyno in the competition sponsored by Bullydog. Hmmm, they found out that Bullydog had zero to do with the dyno competiton even though they and Carlisle both advertised it as such. Lloyd was over 650 and CJ was in the mid 550's in the 100 degree plus heat and made very fine showings. Lloyd went back and dyoned on Sunday and laid down a respectable 679. 5hp/1090. 5tq. Nice job fellows on showing Bullydog how well your Non-Bullydog equipped rides run.

A couple of odds and ends...

-Has anyone figured out how many friggin eggs were on the breakfast sandwhiches from the Carlisle High School Band booth. Lloyd,CJ and I all think these used eggs from a goose.

-Lloyd has also became a stock holder in the State Of Idaho after making a grave mistake and saying the word "large" at the french fry stand.

-How can a major sponsor and big vendor Like "BullyDog" sponsor a dyno competition, post it on the Carlisle and BullyDog websites and when the day comes, they say... ... . "OH NO,we have NOTHING to do with the dyno event at all"... Shame on them and this writer hopes all diesel owners know just how much we all mean to them when it comes time to buy parts for their trucks.

-Can anyone explain to me why the owners of dropped trucks, which drove by all day all weekend long, have no respect for others show vehicles. Nothing like working in the 100+ degree heat detailing to be judged and have a dropped truck go by scraping and sliding throwing dust and rocks all over the place.

-I have never seen Picaso's(HighFinance97) truck so detailed and looking sweet. Michael needs to make sure his detail man gets a exta large steak for the hard work making it shine so well.

-3. 5 hours in a drive through judging line was ridiculous.

-Has ANYONE found the M. I. A. 6BT-Dakota yet?????. Maybe a photo placed on a milk carton would help find this missed and lost soul.

All in all,a great show and a good time was had. Here is a link to the photos I took during my short walks both days... ... Andy

Andy about summed it up PERFECTLY, on all topics. Did he mention it was HOT? Oh, by the way, it was HOT!!!

Congrats to Matt. Coming in 2nd to Ramzilla is NOTHING to sneeze at, PLUS, he beat out all the OTHER DTW guys who usually place. Matt has done VERY well at both Carlisle shows this summer, and on a personal note, I am very jealous of both his and his Dad's trucks - both gorgeous vehicles.

Matt, I would also like to thanks for you and your Dad's hospitality under the tend - all of us had a great time. Just too bad it was so danged HOT (did I mention that yet) that Saturday I just couldn't get around to seeing everything I wanted to see.

Andy, thanks for the detailing tips as always. ONE of these days, my truck might actually be 100% clean, instead of "mostly".

And to Lloyd, who showed the Liberator and Banks contingent just what it's all about.

Im not missing, LOL but I am temporally broken :confused: :mad: :{

Trucks are made to be used. Especially when they have a sled pulling hitch on the back. Andy always says, "I will never hook to the sled in fear of getting the truck dirty"

Thankfully he puts his hitch to use.....

That looks like a Dunkin Donuts "Strawberry Fruit Coolata" They are gooooooood

That isnt the only thing that hitch is good for.

It makes a great barrier for all of those people that are following too closely and not paying attention. A little red paint and all is good in "Hammer's" world meanwhile someone has a nice elliptical shaped hole in their grille and radiator and a tow truck is required to get home.

Oh Picaso...

Now OMG thats priceless... .

Now you need to send me a copy of that fullsized to this email box( -- email address removed -- )and I will make sure it gets placed in my albums for you here on this site . You were right also,I did need to wait and see that,LOL. :-laf:-laf:-laf. It does make quite the drink holder.

Rob. .

You did miss a heck of a show, sorry you were among the missing but I also understand being in mechanical misfortune. BTW,there was 3 over the winter that stress tested the hitch as they slid underneath. One being lucky that they just bumped it and knocked out their grill, the other two ended up on wreckers. My world is a tad warped and twisted, need some red paint, with or without the clearcoat?...

Here is also a thread I started over on the Carlisle forums about the sheer ignorance of the dropped and dragging truck crowd. It upset me to no end when I seen the one idiot honk his horn for a lady pushing a stroller to get out of his way. That deal while I was walking almost got the best of my paitence and a midevil happening about happened, thank god for the local Officer Jabroneys parked under the tree and I walked away.

If anyone has any photos they would like to add to the shots in the album send them to the above email address and I will place them and make sure you get credit... ..... Andy

P. S. -Here is a shot from Saturdays heat fest showing Lloyd Mills hanging it all out in the 100+ degree heat. It was found by getblown5. 9 on one of the nacho wagon/dropped PIA truck sites.
