I bought an 07 w/5. 9 in Aug 07- 2 days later it would not start! 20 miles from home in the mountains- After 20 or 30 min while on the phone to Chrysler to arrange for a tow, it started. Took it to a dealer the next business day and they did a "flash". Two nights later the cruise would not work- next day, "flash" and a new cruise switch. One day later, the Ck Eng light went on. The following day the dealer said there were 3 unrelated codes. They kept it 3 days and worked with "star" to try to correct the warning lights, etc. Then 1 day later Ck Eng, light came on. Took it to another dealer who kept it one week and put in a new engine control module and something in the throttle. Drove 7 miles and CEL CAME BACK ON!Took it back to dealer and got so irritated I sold it! Sad, as the mileage was over 20 mpg (calculated) and the rest of the truck was fine. But 10 days in the shop in 8 weeks and over 50 miles each way for each repair was too much for me to put up with. The dealers were nice enough and the techs seemed nice, but I've had lemons before and they never get better. I wrote Chrysler after the first major problem. Weeks after I sold it they called and after a long discussion they said they would do nothing as I didn't own it, and it didn't seem to sink in that I sold it as it was defective and not "fixable"! So its not just the 6. 7's with problems. Something seems to be setting off warnings that don't correlate with a specific problem. Months later a recently retired Chrysler engineer told me if it was running ok and oil pressure and temp were ok, I should not have worried about the warnings. If so why do they "track" all that data with the sophisticated computer system? Sounds like its great when it works, but if it doesn't they have no clue as to the "fix". I'm not angry anymore, but disappointed and out several thousand dollars!
