I have had enough problems w/ mine . . I've been very patient, tried other dealers to fix mine ... . so I am in the process of lemon lawing mine... the atty says I have an excellent case and to just wait for the offers to come in. See my other posts if you don't know my situation.

cummins and dodge will work through these problems the same way they did for the 53 block, lift pump and vp44.

I didn't own a 53 block but have never heard of one that failed within 100k mile warranty that Dodge or Cummins didn't step up to the plate for.

I put 325,000 miles on an '01 HO/6 speed. The first VP-44 injection pump was mistakenly replaced at around 135k miles but when my mechanic buddy and I realized the original was not the cause of the problem I was experiencing, the take off pump was sold to another Dodge owner and is still in use today. The Cummins rebuilt VP44 we installed is still running great at 342k miles in the '01 although I no longer own it.

Dodge replaced the original lift pump in my '01 at 62k miles under warranty. I replaced one more somewhere around 150k to 200k miles just to avoid a failure on the road. The third one is still in the truck at 342k miles and works great.

I know this is a controversial statement I'm going to make but I have experienced VERY FEW problems with either of my previous Rams. I don't understand why some replace so many injection pumps, transfer pumps, or injectors.

I just retired my '06 Ram yesterday with 228k miles on the odometer. It has all six original injectors in it and when an engine diagnostic was run by a dealer a few months ago all were normal.

I remain a loyal fan of both Dodge and Cummins. I love their products and have found them to be extremely reliable in over 550,000 miles of road use, mostly towing, since early '01. I just bought my third one yesterday.

well i live in california so it goes without saying we ain't gettin nothin else! 2nd off my son in laws father works for Chevron running the console and he says nothing being made but ulsd. your man works for a dealer so his word don't mean a whole lot.

Small World. I work one of the Consoles at the Chevron refinery here in Socal. In fact, I am a Primary Console Operator. I can tell you that ALL diesel coming out of our tanks and processing plants leaves with a sulfur level below 15 PPM, usually the level is ~7-9 ppm. We have systems in place in the units that if the level gets within a set ppm the plant automatically stops the fill into the on-test tank and routes the product to an off-test tank. The feed coming in also gets diverted to tankage.

All of the sulfur that is removed from gasoline, diesel, and gasoils (essentially unblended motor oil) ends up in my plants. Where the sulfur is recovered and gets sent out by truck in its molten form. Our sulfur is free of most contaminants that it is close to medical grade sulfur.
